I feel like daughters/ sons/ divers who grew up in multilingual households tend to feel misunderstood in a way

I noticed that when I spoke to a lady who was my mom’s age but more fluent in the language of the country I was raised in . I was surprised about speaking without repeating myself 5 times or somebody generally listening to what I have to say rather than ignoring me

I’m not saying this to bash anyone for not being fluent in a language but my mom came to Europe at the age of 15.. when my siblings and I were born, she didn’t want to teach us our mother tongue bc she rather preferred for us to speak English + the other 🇪🇺 language. + she deliberately isolated us from the black community bc they allegedly destroy people and only cause harm.

Well we still learned how to speak our mother tongue lol but we understand more than we speak.
