Submissions for the 2026 year of the DC PRIDE: Fan Zine are officially open! If you would like to contribute to a celebration of your favorite LGBT characters in DC Comics, we want to hear from you. We are looking for contributors who have a story to tell through their art or writing, and are interested in helping you find collaborators that best suit your work! 

Note: Although we aim to primarily feature canon queer characters, the theme of “Behind the Mask” takes primary precedent. We are interested in stories about the relationship between queer identities and secret identities, and if you need to use a queer interpretation of a character who is not queer in the canon in order to accomplish that, we are excited to see it!

ARTIST APPLICATIONS

If you are an artist, you can submit your application through our google form. We are looking for:

Cover Artists

Interior Page Artists

Pin-Up/Poster Artists

Physical and/or Digital Merch Artists

Assistant Artists (inkers/colorists) 

WRITER APPLICATIONS

If you are a writer, please email your completed script to [email protected]. If your script is selected to appear in the special, you will be invited to join our discord server the same as our artists, so that you can work and communicate with the artist who will help bring your story to life. You will need to send:

Your completed script as a PDF attachment. Consider referencing the setup of a comic script as illustrated by blambot. 

At the top of your script, please include your name and email, as well as the name and email of any writing collaborators. 

In your email, please include a brief summary of your story (1-2 sentences) and list all characters that make an appearance.

If you are already working with an artist to bring your script to life, please ensure that they fill out the artist application, and include their name (as written in their application) in the body of your email. Please also make sure to note if this is the only artist you wish to illustrate your script so we can evaluate the work as a unit, or if the artist listed is a preference.

The upcoming issue will be different than our previous edition - it will have a general theme for contributors to follow when creating their comics! We have compiled suggestions given by our community in the interest check for voting here. These include GODS & MONSTERS, PRACTICAL MAGIC, HIDDEN HISTORY, ALWAYS HERE, BE GAY DO CRIMES, BEHIND THE MASK, RESIST!, and G R O W. More information about each theme and the voting process can be found within the form. Happy voting and may the best theme win!

This project is hosted as a digital comic book on Heyzine, and flips through just like a real one! However, if your device is unable to support that we do have a scroll-through, single-page PDF available here!

This project is shaping up to be something seriously impressive with the combined talents of the contributors we already had lined up as well as those who will hopefully be incoming. The DC Pride Fan Special is a zine that strives to mimic an actual comic special, filled with fully illustrated stories and posters that celebrate the LGBTQIA characters of the comics we all know and love. In the spirit of those comics, we aim to unite writers and artists together to create collaborative teams to help bring these stories to life!

Write and illustrate your very own comic or find someone in our own ranks to work with! We have already had several successful team ups and would love to get more folks matched. We're even searching for inkers, colorists and letterers to help in the collaborative process! There is a place on our team for ALL kinds of creators.
