Hi folks! It's that time of year again! Join as we once again build up to Lightcannon Week! Last year's Week was an unprecedented success and I can't wait to see what you'll come up with this time! The dates will remain the same as last year, July 24th-31st in order to give us all time to work on our creations. So as a first step we'll be polling the community for prompts. The LC Week Discord server has very helpfully come together to help me compile this list of potential prompts. Here's how it'll work:

Choose prompts you want to see on this year's Lightcannon Week.

We will not be repeating prompts from last year so as to not double up.

The top two prompts from each Day's choices will be selected as options for each day.

Unused prompts will go back in the pool for next year.

Day Eight will be a Free Day.

The Poll will end Sunday 25th May, so be sure to get your vote in!

In response to the poll results I've come up with an event for October and our girls' release dates:

Twin Stars: A Very Lightcannon Birthday will be a Two-Shot Event for October 10th (JInx's Birthday) and October 19th (Lux's Birthday).

Participants may submit one fic for each day, or just one, whatever you're up for! The theme is, naturally, "birthday", but we're playing fast and loose with this one - any prompts are just suggestions!

The Rules and Prompts are as below!

I know we're all pretty cooked from LC Week so after the poll suggested strong support for "October" "Birthday" and "One Shot" from both Authors and Readers, this is my way of merging them into something tasty and achievable :slight_smile:

The Collection will be Open/Unmoderated from the 10th-19th, but it's currently Moderated (and will be Moderated after the 19th) so early and late submissions should be easy as pie! 💛💙🩷❤️ Have fun and looking forward to your submissions!

I don’t care if you leave a comment on a fic from four years ago or leave comments/kudos on like ten of my fics in one go. This isn’t IG, pls stalk my AO3. I love you

I don’t care if you mention the same thing in your comment that four other people have already mentioned. It’s actually really useful to know what resonated with people and I love everyone who takes the time to tell me they liked a particular turn of phrase

But don't panic! If you have late submissions, the Collection will NOT BE CLOSED after the end of the Week!

It will remain open, but become moderated! That means late submissions are perfectly acceptable, but from after the deadline, I'll be checking them over to ensure no funny business before they're Approved 😏

(I obviously couldn't humanly do that during the INSANE FLOOD OF FICS that has been this week! ) For perspective, the previous record for fics in a Lightcannon Week was… 41, in 2022!

I will also continue to reblog @Mentions for the next week or so on tumblr here! Thank you all SO much for your efforts this year. This blows any possible expectations I could have had out of the water. I'm flabbergasted, jawdropped, gobsmacked, bushwacked, astounded, astonished and amazed. This community came together like it was the Battle of Thermopylae. I've never seen anything like it.

Oh, and Lightcannon's also on the Top 100 list for WLW ships on ao3 for the first time ever now. That's you. You did that.

So while quite a few people have posted to the collection already (YAY!) I'm aware that it's not appearing in the dropdown list when using "Add to Collection" from an existing fic.

I've submitted a support ticket but this might just be AO3 taking its arsed time to update its data set.

You CAN still post to the week by entering the name in manually and hitting Enter, then saving/updating your work, even if it doesn't appear in the list.

And you can post directly to the Collection from a draft by going to the Collection's Page and choosing Post to Collection.
