This outfit makes Hyde look like a bear. Both Hyde and Lucy have ankle-length long coats in this version.

I think I need to make a post just to rave about this production.

Here's the reasons:

1.An interesting script: Based on the pre-broadway tour version with a lot of changes. It keeps Bring On the Men and the Girls of the Night, adds extra songs. I mean, who wouldn't want to see I Need to Know, the full version of Alive, and the World Has Gone Insane on stage?

2.A very bold stage design. They put in a ton of cool neon lights, and the lighting effects are just wild. The staging also does an amazing job reflecting the characters' inner mindsets.

3.Some ghostly elements. It’s still a very Gothic version, and you even get a skeleton Lucy wandering around in Jekyll’s ballroom.

4.Unique characterization. For example, you have the control-freak Carew father and daughter, and then there's Jekyll, who literally goes straight to Lucy's house to treat her wounds just because he received a letter from her.

The way I see the wedding scene in this production: it looks like one new couple, but it’s actually one living couple, one ghost couple, and two more couples of a living person with a ghost.

Just a heads up: If this isn’t your thing, please just skip it. Let’s not argue about it.

I’m thinking about the relationship between Hyde and Lucy in the Bremen production again. Something I find really creepy but also fascinating is how, in this production, Hyde actually very satisfied after he kills Lucy.

From the moment Hyde meets her, he wants her to love him—and maybe he loves her too—but at the exact same time, he just wants to torture her.and during 'Dangerous Game,' he even looks like he wants to strangle her.

I always feel like if Lucy hadn't realized at the very end that Jekyll and Hyde are the same person, and hadn't called him "Henry," Hyde might have actually eaten part of her body. He looked so far from humanity at that point. It reminds me of something I read before about how some baby spiders eat their mother to move on to the next stage of growing up. By killing Lucy, Hyde completes this act of matricide and moves into his next stage—an even worse one.

Still rewatching the Bremen j&h lately. Ethan Freeman and Michaela Kovarikova are an unconventional Hyde and Lucy, but there's something so incredibly captivating about them.

I think one of the most delicious details to analyze in the Bremen production is when Hyde holds a dying Lucy, she gets this final burst of consciousness and realizes Jekyll & Hyde are the same person. she trembles while caressing her killer's face and calls him Henry with so much tenderness. Hyde can't handle it, so he snaps Jekyll out to deal with the mess.

I just know a throat-slit Lucy is going to haunt his nightmares forever. Not to mention Michaela's lucy is literally a child, almost an innocent lamb. (also both Jekyll and Hyde are physically present, trapped in a mixed state during the murder)

Technically it shouldn't be the real ghost of Lucy in his dreams, but Bremen production really said "let's do a really ghost haunting scene." the world has gone insane. Right before the wedding, Lucy shows up in the ballroom with Hyde's other victims, wearing her first red dress and a skull mask, giving major masque of the red death vibes. She sings the final line (he'll be waiting) and the wedding begins under her gaze.

This is literally my favorite cast ever. I still can't help but say it: they look just like a helpless mother and her mentally unstable child.

I've been obsessed with Bremen's Jekyll & Hyde lately, and couldn't resist drawing Michaela Kovarikova's Lucy.
