You sit together. A little ways away from his post. But on a bench. Next to one another. Not noble and knight. Not commander and commanded. But person to person. Kindness to an aching heart.

You assure him he needs not attend the Apothecary. Not unless your knight worries of some ailment or risk. But troth bespoken he hath attended the Apothecaries many a time. And not a remedy could be found.

It's not a curse. But a simple fact of life. And in the end, no harm is done.

You squeeze your knights hand, and you both sit a while longer.

By the time the bleeding ends a different liquid drips from your poor knight. A tear. You have seen him at his weakest. And instead of malice you showed him kindness. A handkerchief is ruined. Perhaps. But this too is of little consequence.
