Thinking at the end of the day how traumatic the 4th war must have been for … well, everyone…but thinking of Kakashi:
- he watched Obito die for the second time
- got blamed for starting the war in which 40,000 people perished. Obito’s all like nah, I didn’t start the war over you killing Rin, it’s because you let her die 🥴 (yeah yeah yeah I know he started it because of the system)
- watched his sensei come back and die again/go back to unliving(??)
- got his eye ripped out of his skull; he has a 100% loss ratio for his left eye in war, but also a 100% replacement ratio, so it evens out
- watched his best friend bbq himself
- fought a literal goddess
- his two students ripped each other’s arms off (he thinking that may have been more traumatic for them than him, tho)
Too tired to think of anything else let, but sure there were more…
Thinking he may have actually came out mentally worse than going into it and that’s saying a lot for him.
And then in true Konaha fashion, Tsunade’s all like (paraphrasing) “hey you know that war we just had, the one where I was bissected?! Oh and the Pain attack before that?! Where you died? Yeah, well, the war was only two days, a weekend, if that. Welcome home. The village is still in ruins. A huge chunk of the troops are dead. Civilian lives are shattered. Ta-daaa. You’re Hokage now. Rebuilding’ll be a way to process your trauma. Kinda like when Minato put you in Anbu to process your trauma as a kid. It’s the Konoha way.”
They never let that man process his trauma. It was always, we’ll keep you busy so you can ignore it and hope it goes away over time.
Thankfully Sakura understood metal health after a war was going to be a big concern. Should’ve been a no-brainer, but…
