Revenge is a dish served cold

    “i didn’t mean to ah… sneak in. it just… happened,” he confessed sheepishly. 

“And? I’m filling in for my teacher. Neither of us planned to be here” Asmodeus replied with a laugh. “Just say you’re with the cello kid and you’ll be fine.” 

It was relieving, to find a nice person. Especially when he was so frantic in a place so damn big. “True, yeah, thank you.” He still felt the need to thank him. “That sounds great. Thank you so much— again.” He was sheepish about his double thank you, still he nodded and he followed.

Asmodeus raised his hand with a smile. “I’m only doing the right thing.” The demon shrugged. “Karma and all that good shit.” He began to walk backward. “So you were just in the neighborhood and wound up here?” 

        “ before you beat who? ” it’s a mumbled question, made so by the straw clipped between her teeth as she’s enjoying her sugary delight. “ all i’m going to say is that if it’s your parents deciding all of this for you… oh, boy. one big YIKES all around. ” at his question, she briefly glances toward her phone, to check the time. “ not any time soon. though, my real home is all the way back in virginia. but i doubt any of us are making it past the death barrier for the next 600 years. ”

“Yo Yo Ma. The one who trained since he was four and a half. Larger than life dude too.” Asmodeus recited the facts as if he was reading a book. “It’s half and half. Though if I had the choice I wouldn’t go four times a week.” That’s what Valentine’s journal said. Asmodeus lips twiched when she that. “Do you miss your life in Virginia?” He asked. “I wouldn’t be quick to call a death barrier. Every barrier has its weakness.”

“If I hadn’t felt that tiny dick energy I wouldn’t of believed it.” Cael greeted him with a smirk. If there’s anything he’s great at, it’s be predictable in greetings. “Asthma.”

Asmodeus scoffed in response. “You’re just upset that you can’t have any dick energy.” Asmodes sneered at the other. It was only Kael. “Kale.What are you doing here? Don’t tell me you actually missed me that much” 

Caroline just sighed, her eyes sad. “He’s safe - he…he left straight after.” She still didn’t understand it, but it was the way things had gone - it wasn’t like she could change it now. “I’m sorry…were you close to them?”

“Oh.” Asmodeus said, trying to hide any sign of emotion. So much for closure on that end. Asmodeus looked up. “In a way I was.” He admitted. “But I was ill around the time.” Asmodeus turned the question to her. “So Theo wanted to be a teacher?” 

she did not really understand how he could have something in his cello, but there were many things in the mortal world that was strange to her, so ari had learnt not to question everything. “i am not sure it is possible to interrupt a failing task,” she answered with a smile. there was something… off, but she did nothing about her gut feeling. “i’d appreciate any help.”

Asmodeus smiled. “You aren’t failing, you’re doing your best.” He replied as he opened the cello case. The demon grabbed the cloth and gently began to wipe the window. “This thing gets all my fingerprints off my cello.” He smiled. “doesn’t leave streaks either.” 

“I have no idea what you just said, but good luck.” She chuckled, shaking her head. “You’ll slay it.” She tried to assure, certain that the practices were paying off. V seemed the type to give 100% at everything. “Yeah, go for it.” Jazmin gestured, pulling a face and shaking her head. “They’re cremated. Like little rocks. They would put someone’s eye out.” She chuckled, glancing back with a quiet sigh. Hopefully, she could get the smell out the house before their folks returned. “Noodles work. What about a stirfry? Do you guys eat meat?” Because she was thinking chicken, but if not, vegetable worked just as well. “I’m a real Gordan Ramsey, let me loose I’ll whip you up a storm.” She playfully exaggerated. 

“Thank you I’m going to need it.” Asmodeus joked. Asmodeus could easily manipulate his way through the song but he had to pretend he was struggling. Asmodeus looked at the cookies. “Maybe next time we all should eat cookie dough just to be safe.” The demon let himself become corny. “That could work and my dad loves beef.” He replied. Asmdues pushed his hair back. “Could I help?’ He asked batting his eyelashes. 

“He sacrificed himself,” if this person was inside the school, they weren’t human - which meant the car crash cover up of Theo’s untimely death wasn’t needed here. “He sacrificed himself to save his boyfriend.” 

Asmodeus felt himself boil with anger. Why would anyone do something so stupid? He left Theo alone and he sacrificed himself. He gritted his teeth. “Was this sacrifice worth it?” He sighed, trying not to show his anger. “Is the boyfriend safe?” His beloved angel was what he cared about as well. 

Vicki has learned to mind her own business. “If that is what you want to do, go for it. But exact a different reactions than you think. Girls always tend to have different reactions with this kind of news.”

Asmodeus looked at her with sincere eyes. “How different is the reaction?” He asked innocently. “Would they prefer it if a girl told them?” He wondered. 

      “  so you judged me by my appearance ?  bold move in this political climate. “   he smirks.  if he was feeling particularly devious, he’d tweet about the exchange and see if he could rile up the trolls.  but as amusing as that would be, he has better things he could be doing.  “ no, i’m not an elf. “  this, he is annoyed by.   he’s given him an out, an opening to reveal whether or not he’s an idiot, or someone in his line of work.  his determination ?  idiot.  “ elves aren’t real. “   he scowls.  this conversation is exhausting and he truly wishes he hadn’t bothered with it.  “ all babies are lovable.  she wasn’t very original, was she ?   “  not his own thoughts of course, but general consensus.   “ look at the time. “  he glances down at his wrist,  where no watch rests.  “ i think i have to be… anywhere but here. “  

        “ where, out into the world? ” she quirks a brow. “ hunger and claustrophobia, mostly. i love a good shake. ” she takes a sip of the drink, as some sort of demonstration. “ and i’ve grown to hate the sight of my own walls. what about you and your friend? ”

“Well out in San Fransico. But it has a lot of performance places.” Asmodeus joked. “Sugar is the answer to everything.” He said with a laugh. The demon thought it was a waste of liquid but he was suppose to nice.  “Me.My life goal is to play all of Bach’s Cello Suites before I turn 21 to beat Yo-yo Ma.” He joked. “My parents insist that long cello lessons will perfect my craft.Halfway across town.” Asmodeus said in a more serious tone. “Guess you’re not going home  either?”
