I wanted to ask what were Daemon and Rhaenyra like in the books? As characters and as a couple? Did they love each other? Was Rhaenyra a good person? Was Daemon? How different are they compared to their show counterparts?
So, here explanations of their love.
And, my opinion:
Rhaenyra and Daemon were an oddly healthy couple (as healthy as anything can be in ASoIaF) they had eight kids and they loved them, even the ones who weren't Daemon's blood or Rhaenyra's blood.
Was Rhaenyra a good person? I would say, as much as one could be in ASoIaF, yes. But she was a Queen and she had hard choices to make.
Daemon on the other hand was grey. Bad for some, good for others.
How different from the show?
Rhaenyra is decisive, she knows the throne is hers, she's charming and capable, but it's tragic because they keep putting obstacles in her way and she ends up dying thinking all her children did too.
Daemon hates Viserys in the books, because Viserys made him lose his first child. He was a good father who yearned to be a father and loved his kids. He was a good husband. The people loved him. He was smart and turned cautious with age.
