why do women on tech annoy so much men?

today I've heard on reddit an awful experience a woman has had on the tech reddit. of course this is a minority of men, but their terrible words affect huge still.

according to her, they say "women on tech are so dumb and useless, they're only hired bc of quota and bc they probably have had sex with the tech lead"

it scares me this mentality is common because I've already heard something similar from one of my class colleagues. he said clearly to my face that I didn't need to study as much as him because companies these days hire women to keep their butts safe.

honestly... whats most scary about this whole stuff is these guys may appear friendly to you but say horrible shit on the internet. how are we possibly safe from them lol
