Another twin flames question: why do I keep seeing the same sign that I don't understand?
I got this question on twin souls/twin flames recently and figured I’d post it here. Someone asked for insight into why they keep seeing the same sign with respect to their twin (a sign that they don’t quite understand), and not any other signs right now. Maybe this has happened to you. The short answer to “Why am I seeing this?” is:
Because it’s important! :)
And I’ve decided to get a little more personal than usual and actually illustrate an example of this sort of thing with a synchronicity from my own life. A synchronicity that relates directly to how I first came to hear about twin flames.
First off, we need to remember the following points:
The universe has an unlimited arsenal from which to pull signs.
The universe has unlimited means for arranging “coincidences” for you (and at the exactly perfect time – since time is not something that truly exists / everything is happening right NOW).
The universe has unlimited “creativity” with which to design signs!
That said, sometimes, the signs you see make no sense to you at all, in their moment. Why? Maybe your current perceptions and/or life circumstances just don’t provide any context for lending them recognizable meaning. In other words, it’s not that you’re missing something; it’s just that maybe there’s nothing more to understand right now, than simply the fact that this is a sign! :)
But remember that this is right now. And if it’s not making sense yet, that does not mean that it’s never going to. Remember, whoever is guiding you two with respect to your connection knows more than your human selves currently do about what experiences might be coming up for you in the future, so they may be giving you a sign that is meant to make sense in the future instead.
And when you catch it in the future, you’ll recognize it’s not an accident.
It’s pretty logical to conclude that, if the universe keeps telling you the same thing, it’s because it wants you to notice. Learn to recognize that thing. Learn that whatever that thing is talking about is important. Even if you don’t know what it means.
So I’ll give you an example of this phenomenon from real life, and you’ll see here exactly how I first learned about twin souls. As in, the very occasion on which somebody spelled it out for me. Check it out:
For months and months (…and months!), I was being absolutely dogged by particular kinds of “coincidences” that all related to something very obvious until, eventually, one December, I started seeing “1234” and “12:34” out of nowhere, all over the place. This number sequence had no personal significance to me. Sometimes, if a number keeps coming up, I am able to connect it to a date or a tarot card equivalent or a numerology perspective. But 1234 stumped me. Regardless, it kept showing up for weeks. Then stopped. Months went by without me seeing it anymore, and I never figured out what it had meant.
April rolled around, and I was talking with an old acquaintance at a bar. She and I hardly knew each other, but she stunned me because, early in our conversation about things not at all related to romance, she asked me very direct questions about my feelings regarding somebody I’d met, and she phrased these questions in the exact wording I had always used to describe my feelings for this person – when I had never previously discussed them with her. It stunned me not only because these were my exact words (and I hadn’t told her), but nobody – until I met her – seemed to understand the feelings I had tried to describe. The conversation blew my mind. When I confirmed for her that she was exactly right, she told me about the idea of twin flames. This blew my mind even further, because everything she was laying out for me fit exactly what my intuition had been suggesting about what had happened, why it felt that way, what it meant, and what I was to do about it. (And when I looked up “twin flames” online later to educate myself on the phenomenon, I was further shocked to find a lot of lines on the internet that had sounded as though they’d been lifted, verbatim, from my journals. That was how, when she had asked me questions about feelings I hadn’t even discussed with her, she was capable of phrasing them in my exact, very private words.) My mind was resisting the idea that I could actually believe anything about what I was hearing right then at the bar, or whether this concept was real, or whether she could be right about telling me that this particular person was my “twin flame." After all, until just a few minutes before, a "twin flame” was something I didn’t understand that the soul might actually have. So I decided some additional alcohol was in order, and I took a break from our conversation to go get myself some wine.
As I walked back from the bar, I glanced at my receipt, and it had the time stamp “12:34." And the bartender’s name, also printed on the receipt, was the same name as the person that she had been trying to tell me was my twin. Suddenly I remembered all the 1234 and 12:34 stuff from months earlier. I showed her the receipt and mentioned how I kept seeing those numbers and not understanding what they meant. I pointed the name out as well.
"It’s a progression,” she smiled. “The numbers are moving forward. It’s telling you that you’re going in the right direction. You’re on the right track.”
That was when I understood the significance of this repetitive 1234 business. If 12:34 hadn’t been coming up for me over the preceding months – until I finally noticed it and it died down temporarily (because the message itself wasn’t yet ready to be delivered; I had simply needed to recognize the “envelope,” so to speak) – then it wouldn’t have had any relevance to me when I looked at the receipt months later. That’s when the following really became clear: The universe sometimes plants a synchronicity ahead of “time,” training us to recognize a particular sign so that, in exactly the most relevant moment, we will be capable of receiving and understanding an important message.
You know, like how you have to practice recognizing the letters of the alphabet before you learn to read words. :)
So don’t be discouraged if you don’t understand why you’re seeing the same thing over and over again and don’t know what it means. You can ask for clarification. And if the clarification doesn’t come when you think it should, remember the sign anyway and recognize that it may be important for the future.
If you’re not getting other signs in the mean time, what does that mean? Maybe the absence of other stuff to decipher is simply the universe’s way of emphasizing the importance of what it’s already showing you. It’s trying not to distract you with other messages, so you can make sure to pick up the one that’s already coming. There’s no need to be discouraged. Obviously, the universe is trying to talk to you. Accept with gratitude the fact that it brings messages – even if you find them indecipherable at the time! There are always things that we don’t know about the future, and the sign may be WAY more relevant to something in your future than you are currently capable of knowing.
