Happy family!
Here is my first, learning/project amp. It’s a Simms-Watts P.A. 100. One of the biggest amp i’ve seen. Got a plenty of space inside the chassis to mod this beast.Â
First i’ll try to learn more and more about the debugging (it’s a bit noisy on every channel so maybe something wrong after the preamp) and then i’ll swap out few components on each preamp. The first one going to be all stock and then i’ll raise or lower a singel components value channel by channel to see how it sounds than. Stoked!
Got this 1977 Sunn P.A. Twelve mixer/power-amp at the local flea market for 30 euro. It’s a super heavy 12 channel mixer with a built-in reverb and a 200 watt power-amp under the same hood. Not tested it yet, but it powers up. Only half of the knobs worth more than what i paid for it.
Hi, I just saw some of your videos and I need advice. I wanna try new amp and I cannot decide for what I should hunt. I cannot decide between Ampeg V4/B, Matamp GT120 or Orange OR120 or... Now I'm using Hiwatt DR504 and Sound City 200 MKIII for guitar and for bass some Acoustic and Sunn solidstate stuff and I wanna basically amp that can do both - guitar and bass, nice loud cleans, headroom, and good platform for pedals. And it should be simple - few knobs and nothing modern fancy. You know...
Hello there! It’s really a hard to choose one amp for both bass and electric. I would say that go for more and more wattage (because the bass) if you play some heavy stuff in a two guitar, one “bass style band. I think the Ampeg V4 is great platform for both guitar and bass tones because the tone shaping qualities but it’s pretty dirty when you drive hard with bass - and you have to because 100-120 watts for bass are not really much these days… but it’s depend on your cabs and such. I have actually and old OR120 and it’s a great sounding on bass but it’s not clean either on high volume levels. Maybe you should check the 100 or 135 watt fender bassmans too. Sounds great too and it’s easier to get on a reasonable price level. Hope that helps. By the way: what’s your problem with your current setup? If you give me more detail on your application or problems with your rig, maybe i’ll can tell you more.
Got this torn speaker and i decide that i'll give it a try to repair it. So i just browsed the web for more info about the procedure. After checked all the useful forums, topics and youtube videos i bought all the necessary stuff which is really the wood glue (had tissue at home) and did this:
dilute the glue with water to be like a cream (i recommend PVA wood glue).
then take apart a paper tissue ply by ply because we only need one thin piece.
after that join the two, torn pieces together.
tear a small* piece of the tissue by hand !no scissors! to have more fiber on the sides of the paper *(a bit bigger than the scar [much smaller than the depicted above one]).
apply small dots of glue with a painting brush to the back side of the scar to hold the tissue in place for the first time (it’s practial to do the first layer on the back if you do not have experience with this method).
attach the small tissue to the wound and than use the brush to put more glue to tissue and form an even coat on it.Â
let it dry for 30-40 minutes and than do the same on the front.
dry for a day and than be happy.
I found that there’s no difference between a repaired and an original one (even i used two ply of the tissue on both sides - 4 ply totally). Here’s a quick test, take a listen:

Some of you asked me to show the WEM Shadow Echo as a preamp. Here you are!
Got this Watkins "The Shadow Echo" today which sounds a bit noisy yet but it's usual in that age. I've the original tape loops in a sealed case and the tubes are untouched too so it's a super score and i haven't mentioned that sound... This unit rips, that tube/tape saturation is unbelievable. You should hear that!
Sunday jam.
True vintage classic from the late sixties! Goodmans Audiom 12-P (Green label), 25 watts, slays!Â
I wanted to ask you if you've ever played with a Minifooger MF Delay and what your opinion on them is. I got one pretty recently but I've had a very limited choice when it comes to comparing delays.
Actually I never heard personally, but i'm sure you can't go wrong with any Moog product if you're fine with the features. Personally i like the pre-delay drive circuit idea like in the old Memory Man delays.Comparing delay pedals are really hard, because most of them just sound really close to the same. I think if you looking for delay just focus on the features (delay time ect.) that the pedal offers, in a live situation they just give you ambience and space in the most cases so cheaper digital delay could do the job as well. You'll never notice any significant difference in an analog repeat when it comes to full-band mix. If you like looping and play music alone - like most of the ambiend, post-rock players it's worth to purchase a really powerful delay otherwise it's not necessary (for me).

You can't get enough of these vintage Stereo Memory Man units. These are the best sounding delay pedals ever. The repeats are more like echo with a little bit reverb on 'em. If you ever have a chance take a listen and you'll fall in love!Â
(Note that the vintage unit has the blend on the bottom, not the delay knob.)
