Date the girl whose hair is a mess and steals your t-shirts and kisses you in front of boys who look at her admiringly. Date the girl who wants to dance in the rain with you and make tea for you and make you laugh so hard you snort tea out your nose. Date the girl who cares so much that she can tell something is wrong just by looking at you. Date the girl who will wrap her arms around you for no reason and pay attention when you talk about the things you love, even if she doesn’t love them herself. Date the girl who looks like a lazy sunday afternoon instead of a saturday night. Yeah. Just date that girl.

Wait for someone who says, “Holy crap, how did I get so lucky?” when you walk in the door, absolutely exhausted from work at 6pm after being married for 30 years. Wait for that, it’s more than worth it.

I hope that someday, somebody wants to hold you for twenty minutes straight, and that’s all they do. They don’t pull away. They don’t look at your face. They don’t try to kiss you. All they do is wrap you up in their arms, without an ounce of selfishness in it.

I remember the way he said it, the “I don’t love you anymore.” I sat in silence for a bit. I didn’t do much talking, when I did it felt like shards of glass crawling up from the pit of my stomach forming lumps in the back of my throat. that was 2 months ago and I haven’t seen him since then. 2 years and 7 months of my life and everything that made me happy, was all gone the second those words came out of his mouth. funny isn’t it? how 5 words can make it feel like all the happiness is pouring out of your chest and you just sit there trying to shove it all back in. I hadn’t slept for 3 days after he left. my mother had warned me about him, the way he never smiled when I laughed, or how he never memorized my favourite brand of cereal or my favourite song. I didn’t think those things mattered, but when you fall in love you just want to sit there for hours, getting to learn new things about him or her. and trust me every story they have to say is so damn amazing you never wanna hear it come to an end. i guess that’s how I know I fell in love, I fell in love with a a boy who didn’t know how to love me back. or maybe he just didn’t want to.
