The contrast between Tanâs mantra and the rest of the Fab 5âs mantras is sending me.
Everyone else: đđđźđđđź
Tan: You could try trying.
why am i being punished like this
quietly working together on your own projects in the same room as a form of intimacy.
please stop reblogging sylvia plath poetryÂ
For ppl asking why sheâs an anti black, anti Semite. She has used the n word and compared her depression to the holocaust
Even not counting her poetry her private journals are full of disgusting, overblown antisemitism. She didnât just use Jewish people for her metaphors, she outright hated them irl and yet decided to use their suffering for her own gain
hereâs a source with some quotes
okay, Iâm Jewish and I appreciate this sentiment. and if someone wants to cut out Sylvia Plath, go for it, I get it.
But. by this logic weâd also need to stop reblogging TS Eliot, Oscar Wilde, and Shakespeare quotes. Virginia Woolf wrote anti-semetic things in her private journals, too. If you only want to read classic poets who liked Jews and black people, thatâs fine, but like. good luck? Sylvia Plath isnât an exception.
idk. Tumblrâs attitude of âconsume nothing problematicâ just doesnât work if youâre part of a group that most culture-creators over the last few centuries have hated by default. For people actually in those groups, itâs not like the only two choices are 1) worship authors who hate you or 2) completely cut the majority of literature out of your life. You learn to read critically and acknowledge flaws where you find them.
anyway, as a Jewish woman, I would much rather see a version of this post that said âplease read Sylvia Plath poetry critically because sheâs anti black and antisemeticâ than just âstop reblogging Sylvia Plath poetry.â
IMO, reblog Sylvia Plath all you want, just not unthinkingly.
Iâm reblogging this now because Iâm seeing anti-Virginia Woolf discourse lately due to the antisemitism in her journals and like⌠as a Jewish person who loves Virginia Woolfâs writing and an English teacher who knows that pretty much every writer of the classics is Problematic justâŚchill pls
The point isnât to never consume media that isnât ideologically pure. Thatâs never the point. Were that the goal, we would NEVER be able to consume any media. Nothing is ever ideologically pure, especially as time goes on and our social consciousness expands.
We should be telling people instead, âBe critical as you read this personâs work. They held bigoted views. Understand how that is reflected in their work, and be mindful of it. Be critical, be thoughtfulâ
Compelling others to not engage with something at ALL on ideological grounds is in the same vein as burning books. We should be compelling others to be critical and mindful, not narrow and willfully ignorant.

Can we just⌠normalize teens loving their parents? Like obviously youâre not obligated to if your parents are shitty, but damn, I love my mom. Sheâs there for me all the time and sure we have rough patches but honestly sheâs the greatest. Like. We need teens to know that they donât have to hate their parents just cause.
It must be nice to come from a nonabusive family. One that doesnât traumatized every emotional interaction to the point where you drive away any sign of love as a form of manipulation because thatâs all that you were raised with. đ¤ˇââď¸
It is.
Reading Comprehension Â
but loving ur parents is already normalized and its the kids w/ abusive parents that actually have to deal with misunderstandings and ignorance from others regarding this topic.
Hey there, Iâm talking about the trope where itâs seen as super uncool to like your parents that was literally pushed on teens through the media since the culture shift in the early 60s. The post has nothing to do with abusive parents. I was abused as a kid and honestly if the trope where teens have to hate their parents to be cool died, then kids with actual abusive parents would have an easier time recognizing abuse this has been a psa
âif the trope where teens have to hate their parents to be cool died, then kids with actual abusive parents would have an easier time recognizing abuseâ
Teen with abusive parents: I hate my parents
Teen influenced by society: Me too mine are the worst
The takeaway for teen 1: This is normal and itâs supposed to be this way
The takeaway for teen 2: My friendâs parents are like mine
The takeaway for any adult listening: All kids who complain about their parents are just being rebellious
this is important
I thought my relationship with my parents was super normal until I went to college and suddenly everyone started getting along with their parents and I just wasnât? I literally signed up for therapy because I thought there must be something wrong with me because I donât have a relationship with my parents and I canât seem to make it happen when all my friends can. 6 years later, a PTSD diagnosis, a lot of therapy, and I can finally admit that maybe I didnât have a good relationship with my parents because they beat the shit out of me every time I did something they didnât like and not because I was just born wrong.

Honestly the best feeling in the world is when you pick up someoneâs cat, and theyâre like âI canât believe sheâs letting you hold her !!!â Like yes. I am the cats friend. The cat whisperer. The forest nymph. The cat charmer. Th e
