Can we just… normalize teens loving their parents? Like obviously you’re not obligated to if your parents are shitty, but damn, I love my mom. She’s there for me all the time and sure we have rough patches but honestly she’s the greatest. Like. We need teens to know that they don’t have to hate their parents just cause.

I thought my relationship with my parents was super normal until I went to college and suddenly everyone started getting along with their parents and I just wasn’t? I literally signed up for therapy because I thought there must be something wrong with me because I don’t have a relationship with my parents and I can’t seem to make it happen when all my friends can. 6 years later, a PTSD diagnosis, a lot of therapy, and I can finally admit that maybe I didn’t have a good relationship with my parents because they beat the shit out of me every time I did something they didn’t like and not because I was just born wrong.
