concept. grace trying to have his cake (prove to rocky this is not the first time in his entire life he's been close to another person) and eat it too (continue to avoid confessing he did not actually volunteer to be on the hail mary) by talking about stratt, the woman in charge of the whole project, very infrequently. five whole sentences the whole journey back to erid. but he talks about eva a lot. eva is his friend. eva worked on the project with him, eva and him spent a lot of time together, he misses her something awful, sometimes rocky reminds him of her. rocky does not need to know eva and stratt are the same person. grace is in no way hoisting a sword up to hover dangerously above his head.
I think it would be because to Grace she is two people.
Eva was his friend the person who had everyone clap and praise him after a discovery. The friend who supported him through his research on astrophage. The person who believed in his thesis.

A video game you couldn't put down and one you just couldn't complete?
Couldn't put down: Capcom's RPG Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin. I got 300hours on this bad boy.
Drop dead stunning game that looks and runs amazingly well on the Nintendo Switch, great characters, story, and music, good mix of monsters you can collect and befriend, easy but engaging combat with a great open world. Endless potential with rare egg hunting to give your monsters different actions moves. To put simply: It you want Pokémon to feel like a Triple A game but for way less money, you can't go wrong here.

To be fair, I tried this one out back in 2020 and we all weren't in the best mindset that year 🥴 I tired to keep going as the world felt big, I loved Aloy's character and how all these vagally animal looking mecs roamed the world in these ruined apocalypse cities. I just couldn't get with the combat & crafting and felt like I was attacking with sticks and stones, died way too much because of that, and felt like I couldn't take five steps without one of the mecs seeing me calling over the pack to hunt me. I felt like I had to spend 20mins creeping through tall grass to get to my objective. Not at all the worst gaming experience I've had but, I am saddened that I couldn't click with it.
I am a huge monster hunter fan but have never tried stories. Last one I played was world but do want to get wilds now that I have a ps5 (but fuck digital purchases). I have zero dawn but haven't tried it yet.

albert wesker’s journey into silent hill did not begin with trauma or remorse, but with pure, unadulterated ambition. after intercepting classified files regarding an ancient, anomalous energy around toluca lake, he traveled to the region believing this force was the missing piece needed to perfect his vision for human evolution. but as he crossed the town’s threshold, a sudden, blinding fog caused his helicopter to crash. wesker survived, only to find himself trapped in a reality that responded directly to his psyche
the town reshaped itself to target wesker’s greatest vulnerability: his god complex and his deep-seated hatred for human mediocrity. the empty, gray streets seamlessly bled into rotting, decaying versions of the spencer mansion and rusted umbrella underground laboratories. flickering computer screens lined the abandoned corridors, displaying mocking text that targeted his past failures
worse still, his superhuman abilities began to glitch. his speed and strength flickered intermitently, failing him at crucial moments and forcing him to experience the terrifying vulnerability of being just a mortal man
the creatures roaming the fog represented the suppressed fears and origins he tried so hard to deny
faceless figures dressed in tattered s.t.a.r.s. uniforms wandered the halls, symbolizing the team he manipulated and sent to their deaths
grotesque, mutated tyrants that actively rejected his commands, embodying his fear of being destroyed by his own creations
and a horrific, organic manifestation of ozwell e. spencer bound to a flesh-like wheelchair, endless whispering that wesker was never a god—just a laboratory experiment in a test tube
the central and most relentless threat in the town was an entity taking on wesker's own likeness. however, this figure was visually flawless, imposing, and had no need for dark sunglasses to hide its brilliant, glowing eyes
this entity possessed agility, physical power, and reaction times far superior to wesker’s own. moving with terrifying composure, the stalker effortlessly disarmed and overpowered him at every turn. it acted as a cruel mirror, mocking wesker's reliance on viruses and syringes just to feel superior, constantly reinforcing the reality that behind the cold exterior, he was nothing more than a terrified fraud
the nightmare wasn't about redemption; it was an execution of his ego. wesker tried to solve the nightmare through brute force and tactical violence, stubbornly refusing to accept the supernatural nature of the town. but step by step, silent hill forced him to face the truth: that his grand quest to "save the world through evolution" was merely a mask to hide his own insignificance
If Grace could not fully get out of teacher mode even after being in a coma for years (the Rocky my hand is up scene), I can not even think how much worse it would get after he actually takes up teaching again at Erid.
I can imagine Grace, still in that "has been teaching for five hours" haze, trying to have a conversation with Rocky like:
"That's a great answer, buddy, you have earned yourself a sticker... Oh shoot Rocky I'm so so..."
"Yes, yes, Grace very sorry for speaking to Rocky like child, Grace brain thinks Grace still in classroom, apology accepted now where is my sticker question"
Do you ever think about how canonically there was a camera rolling in the cockpit during the entire Taumoeba Fishing scene, and the footage might've made it onto the Beatles. The people on Earth might've seen it, seen how close it was. "The sky is just slightly on fire." The alarms starting to blare. Rocky screaming in horror as Grace almost dies retrieving the collector. The moment the fuel starts migrating. Grace losing consciousness. Rocky risking everything just to save him. I am going to SCREAM can you imagine watching that and it being real???? Watching with baited breath, knowing it was all okay in the end but not knowing yet how scary it was for them, how dangerous, how it even happened. How much it hurt. I'm gonna be sick.
