This interview (the uncut version anyway) is known for this iconic ziam moment:

While this was AMAZING I noticed that people tended to neglect Liam’s reaction during Niall’s description of Zayn starting @ 12:39 in this video. 

From the start of the interview Liam complains about being unable to get comfortable, fidgeting on his seat, yet despite this he does stay seated. However, once Niall begins describing Zayn he falls over. This could be dismissed as Liam being silly or finally having enough of trying to stay seated but isn’t it convenient that he hides his face the moment Niall starts to describe Zayn? 

When presented with a topic or situation in which we may feel vulnerable or exposed, people tend to try and retreat, deflect, or hide. By falling back, Liam is literally retreating from the situation and hiding his emotions, as we are now unable to see his face. Zayn’s actions during Louis’ description of Liam also show this vulnerability, as he looks down and away, shielding (hiding) his face from the other boys. 

Then as Niall continues to describe Zayn, Liam begins to sing. Again, this could be dismissed as Liam being silly but it could also be his attempt to deflect. His singing comparable to someone putting their fingers in their ears and going “la la la” in order to keep from hearing/discussing a topic that will make them feel too exposed or too vulnerable. 

The moment Niall’s done describing Zayn, Liam pops back up on his pillow perfectly fine to sit again, the moment over and no longer needing to hide his emotions.
