Tf2 AU: The Psychonauts š§ 9/9 SCOUT š§
The last of the main mercsā¦ sorry for the wait. Now letās see what I got. Warning:Yapfest ahead!!!
Main PSI Ability: Time Bubble, mostly to slow down enemies and mix with his athleticism when it comes to speed make him seem 10x faster.To most it almost seems like heās teleporting. Also Levitation, mostly to bounce himself up more onto high spaces, not like he needs to though but itās fun for Scout.
Backstory: Natural born psychic. Mostly due to a certain French man that he inherited from. Scout is the youngest of 8 brothers but is only one of two psychic children in the household. I feel like his eldest brother is also somewhat psychic but due to the large age gap between Scout and the eldest brother, the brother was already leaving the house and making his own life when Scoutās psychic abilities were manifesting.
During the course of Scoutās childhood his eldest brother did come back every once in a while to visited his family back in Boston and during those visits try to help Scout, though they were few and far between. This mix with Scoutās Ma having to divide her attention between multiple kids, his other brothers either not caring, not knowing, or bullying him for his psychic traits, and his family not having the resources to send him to a psychic summer campāThis left Scout with little to no proper guidance.
That left him to figure things out of his own. For better or for worse. Scout mostly used his abilities to either cause trouble or get out of it. Pulling pranks, getting into fights, running away from the cops. Some were intentional, others were accidental outburst. This and also his lack of good grades caused him to get kicked out of many schools which caused a lot of tension in his household. Lots of yelling, blaming, some words that were better not spoken.
Scout tried going to a couple libraries to find a guide or any information about what was really happing to him but reading wasnāt necessarily his strong suit. Though he did meet a nice lady librarian, who was also psychic, to help read to him. She was patient with him, never called his questions dumb, never call him dumb, and tried to guide him in a better direction. (Probably a reason why he likes people with crooked glasses.)
Through some training and practice Scout was able to get himself mostly under control with a better understanding of his psychic side. Though, he was still not doing well in school and not having a clear grasp on what his wanted to do with himself. One day, Scoutās Ma got a flyer/pamphlet in the mail advertising the Psychonauts, saying they were hiring and were looking for promising psychic potential.
At first, she hid it from him for a little bit, not liking the idea that her son would be some far away from her in a location not easily accessible doing a dangerous job. She doesnāt hate psychics just a little weary after having her heart broken by one. But at the same time, she loved Jeremy, heās doesnāt got a realistic plan for himself and he old enough to make his own choices. Plus, maybe being around other psychic would be good for him. So, after a week, she showed him.
Scout went back and forth considering it. Scout has some weird internalized issues about being psychic due to outspoken hateful rhetoric from the community around him and it causing a lot of drama in the family. But he knows he capable, he knows he can kick ass and he knows that he gets bored of regular work. Plus the flyer says the gig pays well. He can help his Ma! And thatās all he needs. So, he contacted the attached number on the flyer, packed his things, kissed his Ma goodbye and got flown out for the interview.
The Psychonauts interview him and was overall impressive and interesting. Sure, Scout was loud and kinda flashy which for a secret organization, not the best but they clearly have worst on them payroll. He was fast, hard to catch, and harder to stop once going. A real force of nature. And with that he was hired and placed on their team of specialized psychics known as: Team Fortress.
š§¢During childhood, Scout couldnāt help but feel watched sometimes. He couldnāt prove anything but his psychic abilities could occasionally pick upā¦ someone. Someone he couldnāt see. Wether it was at his soccer or little league games, at the track meets, walking home from school, on his birthdays (even though his family occasionally forgot his birthdays, Scout would fine a small chocolate cupcake on his bedside table and a birthday card with fancy handwriting he canāt read with some money in it that smelled like cigarettes smoke.). Scout never found out who this thing is but he keeps the cards. And sometimes he touches them and with some form of clairvoyance he can feel psychic traces of another person, a manā¦ but never his face.
š§¢Is learning mental projections. Makes him self a little buddy to do stupid stuff with, its with his comic book like art style that he likes to draw with.
š§¢Often found racing around the outskirts of Motherlobe, helping get things to one person to another. He complains that heās not an earn boy or somethingās but does it anyway since he has the opportunity to bump into Ms.Pauling around (though she has very little time for him). Will be your bestie if you offer him a Bonk! or play some baseball with him.
š§¢Scout and Spy are once again Father and Son, and I try to capture that within Scoutās design. Scout has most of Spyās body type, face shape with sharp cheeks and jaw. Scout got his skin color, nose, and eyes from his Ma.
