Intriguing & Fascinating Beasts

Those predators are blind and navigate thanks to echolocation and their sense of smell. Their jaws being not very strong, they kill thanks to the poison they secrete. Excellent climbeurs, they spent most of their time in the heights.

The Zaloferrum got its name from its flippers, a while thought to be used to hunt. While they are not sharp as firth thought, they are used to stun their preys. Very fast in water, they are slow and clumsy on land, spending most their time in the sea. They are rather curious towards humans and few attacks have been reported. Their fur was once used until someone found a better way to waterprof clothes.

The Tussoir is a predator whose name comes from Anne-Marie Tussoir, first to discover it. They are very discrete, having green coat and scales and a black mane, some exceptions are notable: some individuals having a brownish hue have been observed. Their black mane serves as both a way to impress challengers or predators and during courtship. Male's scales become more shimmering during this season. Parents raise two to three cubs together. The cubs have a more importante mane than adults and usually lighter in colour. Their prehensible tail and sticky hind paws make them great climbers and allow them to hang head down and drop on their preys.

Dralpagons are a subspecies of dragons originating from Peru. Unlike the majority of their cousins they can be tamed, and are raised in their country for their fur and leather. They are however wild animals with sharp claws and they spit a very corrosive acid. They are ovoviviparous and give birth to only one cub par litter raised by its mother. The youngs have more fur then the adults, they loose it over time until they reach adulthood. The dralpagon's flight is peculiar, while being quadrupedal, their body stay rather vertical like those of wyverns.

The orbex is a beast with two sets of horns for the males and very agressive. The females live in herd of about ten individuals, males being solitary. They are mainly in forests. They are omnivorous, prefering grass. Despite their hostility, it's possible to tame them and train them for field work and draught. They not very appecriated by other draught beasts, probably because of their instinct of self-preservation against a creature who wouldn't hesitate de turn against them if its needs in food weren't satisfied.

Jacubo is a big migratoring wading bird, spending part of its time in Africa and the other on the other side of the ocean, in America. It has two pair of eye and its beak is serrated. Those growths allows it to rummage through silt to dislodge fishes and shellfishes it eats. They are also used in mating dances, couples rubbing their beaks, creating a strange sound, specific to each couple. They are deemed faithful, however if one partner disapears, the other won't stay alone. They lay a maximum of two eggs in a nest on the ground.

Diomedes horses are wild horses, or rather who became wild. Looking pretty common at first glance, a closer inspection will show a more openned mouth than common horses, closer that of a dog. Those creatures are indeed carnivorous. We can meet them amongts wild common herds where they seem to act as protectors. Strangely it seems their foals are only fillies, and they should be called Diomedes "Mares" instead. Their coat is common, grey, black, bay, chestnut and roan

The walker is a kind of tall canidoid with 6 paws. It doesn't have any facial features, its maws only show when it eats. It's often compared to Grim and Dementors, probably because of its appearance and the fact it's found in graveyards and ruined places. However, it's the opposite of Dementors, feeding on negative emotions. This comparison often classed it as a dangerous creature and caused its near extinction. A luminuous spell can make it flee, even though it doesn't have eyes, light seem to affect it.

The Ceruneon is a flying reptile found in cristaline caves in New Zealand, livingin colonies of 20 to 30 individuals. They arre blind and their antenaes pick up variations in the surrounding air. They complete their diet by gnawing at the cristals and precious stones of their cave from which they get minerals from. while they are relatively inoffensive, or even curious at times, if they feel threatenned they attack in sworm, bitting and slapping the intruder. Greatly prized by poachers for their frontal gem or to be sold as pets (illegal), their population has declined a lot, also impacted by the invasion of their habitat to forage cristals.

The Sarkhit is an african feline who can be domesticated and is sometimes used to hunt. In the wild it’s a solitary animal. Females give birth to small litters, not more than three kittens. It’s a fast and agile predator who can top speed at 70km/h. Their plume is brightly colored, often like their eyes, it grows with age, older Sarkhits (mostly domesticated ones) have plumes which can be as long as their body.

The Falihn is a creature one could call enchanting upon seeing it. A little smaller than a donkey without the crest, its coats vary between blue and pink with rare cases of green. The fawns are born darker than adults. They display a bioluminescent stripe on their neck as well as antennaes, longer for males. They are met in deep forests, near water sources. They are amphibians and their diet is composed of algae and other water plants, completed by mushrooms, mosses and lichens. They are very wild.

Bowgulf is a swamp creature. Having no hind limbs, it doesn’t move a lot. It’s lack of mobility forces it to hunt by tricking it’s preys, to do this it uses a lure resembling a fruit and spreading a sweet scent. It can however hurl itself forward if its prey tries to excape. Its coat helps it melt into its habitat. Its hide is extremely strong.

The lievret is a wild little animal leaving in forests. If it ressembles a rabbit at first, its long tail distinguishes it from them. Its long ears drag on the floor, the youngs often trip on them, and are very useful to detect vibrations. They live in groups of about ten individuals, without a hierarchy. Unlike rabbits, they don’t live in burrows. If they are widely spread on the Eurasian continent, hunt impacts their population a lot. Their tail, besides aesthetic, has heating proprieties making it a prized accessory.

The knickle is a dragon sub-species, living in water holes in England. It can be dangerous for humans and is a formidable predator. Its hunting method is ambush. When underwater, it sits at the bottom, waiting for a prey to drink or fall into the water, then in a spring, with a wing beat -which are only used for swimming being too short for flight- it hurls itself to the surface. On the ground, it waits, laying in grass until a prey comes close enough. If it escapes it will not go far, the knucker produces a lethal venom.

Carnivorous, piscivorous The kigurvik is a light grey marine predator. It’s an intelligent creature mostly living in solitary. It was considered a threat to ships until they were build in metal. It was hunted for security and for its grease. Climate change also impact this sea giant and it has been observed in deeper ocean. It is still considered dangerous when it’s disturbed by engines or sonars of modern navy. It is highly possible though regrettably unconfirmed to this, that “Moby Dick” could in fact be a Kigurvik.

Dust, acari The pulipok is a tiny animal living in East european houses, even though it can be found everywhere, imported inadvertently during travels. It’s a harmless animal living in community, a lot of people get them confused with dust bunnies and it would rather runaway on its height long legs than bite. Its bite is painless for humans but can however, like any insect, cause allergic reactions. Other than this there is not a lot to say about the pulipok.

The croqchu is a solitary animal aside from mating season. The female lays one to two eggs she burries, males don’t participate in raising the young. It’s extremely territorial with every living being (as I discovered). Carnivorous it attacks anything, humans included. Despite its powerful legs, it’s an ambush predator. It can however sprint on short distance at up to 90km/h. Loss of its habitat and conflicts with sorcerers and humans impacted its population.
