I've known for a while that the days of the week in English mostly matched up to Norse gods (Tuesday = tyrsday, Wednesday = odinsday, Thursday = thorsday, Friday = freyasday)

but it only JUST clicked for me that the French days of the week line up with the roughly equivalent Roman gods (Tyr = Mars = Mardi, Odin = Mercury = Mercredi, Thor = Jupiter = Jeudi, Freya = Venus = Vendredi)

Happy 200 Years to the word "Hello"

When I still worked in a call center I remember speaking to an old man who lamented that he always wanted a dog but his wife didn't like them, and had made peace with the fact that he'd never get to have one. He sounded so sad about it.

I told him animal shelters are always looking for volunteers, and recommended he look into that. He sounded really interested.

That was years ago... I still think about it. I hope he did try volunteering and got some joy out of it.

I was on LiveJournal for 8 or 9 years, and it feels like it was such a huge part of my life, but

I've been on tumblr for 15 years

So I grew up without mustard in my diet bc my dad's allergic to it so we never kept it around when i was a kid. But I bought some dijon from the bougie grocer for a recipe and you know what, its pretty good!
