Today I woke up early-ish for me and went to the library. The last time I studied at the library it was a holiday and exam season so it was funny to see it so empty now
going somewhere that isn't my home stops me from getting distracted and so I studied for 5 hours total with a half hour break in the middle
It was good to lock in that hard I haven't in a while but I didn't eat or sleep that was good so I wasn't super focused unfortunately
Overall I'm very proud of myself and I'm motivated to keep going tomorrow (although I'll be waking up a lot later I'm sure cos I'm still awake now and it's 7am)
Yesterday I did this much - I only slept for 5 hours and my screen time is off the charts but I think I'm cooking a bit - I'm up too late now though - tomorrow I want to go to the library to study a lot but I have to wake up quite early for that so I might be tired again
I've had a very long break from studying not in a cute or fun way and I'm so out of practice so instead of setting a goal of 6 hours a day or whatever like I used to I'm just gonna try and one up myself everyday in minutes, even if it's just one minute more (I don't know what I'll do if I don't do that like for an incentive, suggestions welcome)
Here's where I'm at so far:
24th - 0 minutes
25th - 30 minutes
26th - 44 minutes
27th - ???
Also I have a studygram @/thisisnotyesterday I'm gonna be posting all my timelapses there pls follow πππ
All the pens i've used this year so far
i dunno why i started recording start and end dates for all my pens but i did - on the 8th of january 2025 and now 6 months later and here they are. clearly i ran out of january motivation cos theres a steep decline going on in the stats: pen stats: 1 - 3 days 2 - 5 days 3 - 15 days 4 - 18 days 5 - 15 days 6 - 20 days 7 - 33 days 8 - 41 days
Obsidian
i'm so bad at being consistent with obsidian but i try at least in get a pretty graph

we're planning
10 week challenge (sort of)
its not really a challenge ive just got to hype myself up somehow i have 13 assignments to submit in the next 10 weeks on top of 14 new art history topics to cover and a boatload of revision for bio and soc - i want to post here to keep myself accountable because these assignments have been making me deeply anxious for months and i know im likely to procrastinate and avoid them
so ive set dates to hand in each one and ive bought myself a new planner so that lifes not so miserable these are the dates: 25th April - bio 1b 30th April - art hist 1 2nd May - soc 1 13th May - bio 2 16th May - soc 2 19th May - art hist 2 28th May - soc 3 30th May - bio 3 5th June - soc 4 11th June - art hist 3 13th June - bio 4 17th June - soc 5 23rd June - art hist 5
i'm starting officially next week but i still have a lot of things to do rn ill plan more see how it goes yeah
07/02/25
just an hour or so ago i was like yeah im gonna read all these books yeah im gonna make a new issue for my zine after whatever like 2 years its been and then all of a sudden im having a crisis of purpose but we move and tonight i am reading so i want to write some book lists. i really want to know if anyone has read/likes/wants to read any of these because im really lacking people to talk to about books things i've read semi-recently that i liked a lot
the other side: a journey into women, art and the spirit world - jennifer higgie - loved it so much fave of the year so far by far 10/10 - every second was interesting, the sort of book i want to read 10 books on every topic that comes up, i think ill write a separate post about it soon
albert and the whale - phillip hoare - read this in october so a long time ago now but it was great - a similar sort of narrative-y non fiction that i love - borrowed from library but i think i want to buy it one day because it was such a trip and i need to reread to try and absorb it all
the power - naomi alderman - i dont remember when i read this one i dont know why but it was really good - stayed in my head
the women in the picture -catherine mccormack - a bit short if anything felt like each chapter couldve done with being a whole book - liked its links to pop culture + mythology + all sorts
why have there been no great women artists - linda nochlin - had to read it at some point given its referenced in the intro of every feminist art hist book ive read - didnt disappoint
books i am reading/are in my pile
closing the gender gap - madeleine arnot + miriam david + gaby weiner
jungle - patrick roberts
this dark country - rebecca birrell
seeing ourselves - frances borzello
the subversive stitch - rozsika parker
artemisia gentileschi - mary garrard
and many more as usual - although my list is never ending, book recs still appreciated
end of jan
very short review cos ive got no time or nice pictures did 143H 10 study time started off really strong first couple weeks and then burned out 2 weeks behind in art history but 2 weeks ahead in sociology so maybe we're good, i'm a little ahead in bio but its boggling my brain right now, if anyone can explain epigenetics or polygenetic inheritance to me it would be much appreciated also have a million books to read - ive read 4 so far, my tbr stack is so much bigger, i think i want to start posting about books im reading, not really reviews but about them been slacking off with the swedish too mainly focusing on sociology, just got a new book - closing the gender gap - which im focusing on now, goodbye gotta go study that in fact
Week 2 of January 2025
started off strong, sleep schedules been very strange
got actually so much done this week it i'm sure come at the cost of my thriving a little bit especially my sleep has been all over the place (skipped this weekend's reviews because i went to bed at 3pm yesterday and woke up at 10pm the same day) but I've had a really good time studying hard especially cell biology and starting learning Swedish I've enjoyed a lot
habits + goals:
β essay every day β read every day β go climbing four times β mochi flashcards every day β duolingo streak β >35 hours study β make >20 flashcards β draw everyday - dnf, started off alright βwalk twice (just went for one yesterday- unless when it snowed was this week i cant remember) β knit/crochet everyday (missed one day i think)
things i did
continued learning swedish - got though i think 6 units of duolingo maybe it was 5, read an intro to swedish short book and bit of grammar, bit of reading practice, gonna do more structured stuff this week also doing a open learn course on how to learn a language cos i dont know what im doing genuinely
got topic 1 of bio and soc done with time to revise as well and finally finisished topic 2 art history
finished cell bio extra course a week early + byzantine icons course on time
feeling pretty good climbing, havent done any hard climbs recently but ive made progress on a few
finished reading women in the picture - would recommend
wrote 7 essays which was epic, i think ill post a list of what they were on at some point for my memory
went in a lovely 7am winter walk (dont think im a morning person thoughi hadnt slept i wish i was)
stuck to a schedule a couple of times
thats all i can remember but it was pretty good! total time: 49 hours / goal 35 (that's definitely the most I've ever studied in one week, i think I'm gonna go for 40 hours this next week) next week my main goals will be: finish reading this dark country, 40 hours study, focus more on swedish

friday
tired so short one:
had a chill kind of sleepy whole night studying cos its the end of the week and i had worked hard earlier on i could sort of study what i want which was good
things i did:
bio - bit of revision, finished cell bio course a week early which was very cool, loved it, then did a full topic practice test, i think i got 67% which isnt that good but im pleased with anyway because its my first time learning this topic, not to be a nerd but i love doing bio questions while listening to music i had such a good time
soc - very little, few practice questions
art hist - finally ticked off jmw turner!!!!! so glad to finally move on
swedish - popped off today, also wrote my essay on the history of swedish language so i included that thats the main reason for big time today
went climbing that was really fun
bio: 3h10 (30m extra) soc: 20m art hist: 40m swedish: 4h20
total: 8h30
thursday 9th
had a very weird one - couldn't sleep last night dunno why so i was just awake still at 9am and then i got up but then i went to sleep at about middayish-2ish i dont really know and woke up at 5:30pm and thought id wasted my day but i still got some things done somehow so that was good
things i did
went climbing had a really good time
bio: revision at the moment, finished this weeks bit of tour of the cell, did a practice test, an assignment, was pretty good its a shame cell bio is such a small section in my course i love it
soc: just basically ticked off what i had to do didn't do anything that productive, i think soc will be minorly more exciting next week
art hist: did hardly any time but ive finally ticked off the main content of bloody harbour of dieppe so that was really good then proceeded to spend a really long time on my byzantine icons course which is really just for fun and not relavent at all and thats what i wrote my essay on today so that took most of the time
finished a chapter of my book
did a bit of swedish but not much
trying to just relax a bit cos clearly my circadian rhythm or whatver is not it
too tired to add up subjects and stuff im going to bed but total study time: 6h40
accidently posted this on the wrong blog oops
