āI meant that I aināt exactly a social butterfly, y'know? But the people I have had the fortune of meeting, well, mostāve them have been the good sort.ā He gave a loose shrug. āOf course, thereās some bad apples, too. But itās like that anywhere you go.ā
Her boldness was refreshing. It took an amount of honesty and self-awareness to say something like that, especially to someone youād just met. āIf I found you annoying, I wouldnāt have gotten in the car,ā he said with a slight smile. āJust a little surprised you figured out that Iām a nymph so quickly. Not that I wouldnāt have told you if youād asked, but it takes most people a couple guesses."Ā
Across the fence, thereās sounds of rustling and wood creaking as Will pushed the loose board back into place. "Nah, just a loose board,ā he called back, metal clinking as he dug through his toolbox to find the right sized nail. A few loud bangs was all it took to hammer the board securely back in place. Just to be sure, he took an extra second to encourage the nearby plant life to grow over the board, holding it into place. The dirt, too, fills back in from where Boss had dug it out.Ā
With that done, he tiptoed to peek over the fence. āAll done, if you wanna come check it out.ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā Bella listened as things were moved and hammered, waiting for him to say that all was good before leaving Boss to come around and check his work. Her steps were slow, watching that Boss didnāt follow her out the gate, faster once sheād closed it.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā āIād love to hear who the bad apples have been,ā she requested. If heād been in town a while, maybe they werenāt around anymore, or worse had been part of some time period in the towns past when a bunch of bad harmful people had come in. She had even been one of the bad apples at a point, not because she wanted to hurt the town but because sheād been hurting.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā At his confession he was surprised, she felt sort of proud. Still admiring his work she wa also admiring herself for stumping him. The ability itself was rather simple.Ā āNothing smells more delicious than a nymph. Even other fae donāt smell quite so delicious,ā she explained, eyes lifting to him, golden and soft as they lingered for a moment, in silence, before returning to the fence. It looked almost as good as new.Ā āIām glad Iām not annoying you, I probably should have explained how I knew, but itās weird to tell someone they smell like you literally want to eat them. Itās even harder to explain how you smell so good,ā she continued, exhaling hard before inhaling deeply.Ā Her existence was death and his own was a life energy, how could it not smell good?
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Gentle leaning down she touches the fence to see how sturdy it is, once sure it didnāt just look good she stood.Ā āCan I get you a drink or something for helping me?
