Israel and South Africa collaborated together militarily in the 70's not because they were doing similar stuff, but because they were both pariah states shunned by the international community and sort of had no other good options for folks to work with.

We now know the US did the strike and the adjacent military complex of which the school used to be part of about a decade ago was the target, which was bombed along with the school. It seems that hitting a school was not the intended goal and intel was outdated.

The other headline you are citing is Iran bombing a synagogue and leaving 9 dead. The headline leaves out that a synagogue, which, unlike the school, was not a former IDF building still 200 feet from active IRGC barracks. It was also clear at the time that this bomb came from Iranian territory.

Let us review another incident from this current conflict and how the papers covered it.

Just "British Base Hit In Cyprus". The beginning of the article, along with other headlines from other papers about this strike, specify only that it was an Iranian-made drone that hit Cyprus. They did not say where it came or who was responsible, because that was not yet known. Had they said it came from Iran or was an Iranian strike they would be wrong. We later learned it came from Lebanon, from Iran's proxy Hezbollah. They use passive vague language "The base was hit" in the headline. Hit by what? A bomb? A punch to the face?

Can you explain why it is somehow the US’s right and/or responsibility to topple any regimes of any kind around the world? What about the current US regime? Should China assassinate trump to liberate Americans from the myriad human rights violations currently happening in the US? Can you explain how this time US intervention in the Middle East is going to have better results than the multiple other times in the past?

That is the number of German CIVILIANS that died to Allied bombing. Unlike Hamas Health Ministry that adds civilian and Hamas deaths together, this is JUST the number of civilians that Allies killed in WWII, and this is just the number that were killed by bombs. Just in Germany.

Also. China is free to do exactly what you suggested. Doing so would lead much of the US to celebrate in the streets with Chinese flags the way Iranians are now celebrating in the streets with US and Israeli flags. It would also mean China faces the full brunt of the United States military apparatus, much as the United States and Israel are currently facing the full brunt of the Iranian military apparatus.

The thing is that the Iranian military is way less scary than the US military. And the United States government has not been calling to wipe China off the map with nukes for 47 years the way Iran has towards the US and Israel. Doing regime change to a democratic republic is a lot more difficult than unseating a dictatorship government so not sure what China would really stand to gain from such a move.

It's important to note that the Allies did not attack Germany because they were genociding Jews. Just as nobody is attacking Iran right now because of the 30k+ civilians machine gunned to death in a few days by the government for speech against said government. It helps sell the war to the public, for sure, but that's not why it's happening. It's happening, just as in WWII, because of the threat to national security posed by Nazi Germany and the Iranian regime. It turns out chanting "DEATH TO X COUNTRY, DEATH TO Y COUNTRY", over and over while trying to build nukes, is a really good way to end up getting preemptively striked by X and Y countries. Iranian proxies mucking about in the region doesn't help either. Especially when Y country is the only Jewish country and Iranian proxies committed the worst genocide of Jews since the Holocaust. Apparently, at least for Y country, killing Khamenei was decided on right after October 7.

Iran is different than things like Iraq and Afghanistan. The latter two have no history as nations. They are made from drawing lines on a map and grouping disparate rural tribes together and calling them a country. America failed in Afghanistan because in Afghanistan you belong to your tribe more than you belong to Afghanistan. There is no Afghani national identity. Afghanis are largely rural and uneducated. There was no way to coalesce a common national identity that would make Afghanis want to hold their country away from forces like the Taliban. They just don't give a damn, they want to tend to their crops, feed their kids, and smoke hashish. What is nation building? Afghanis don't care about this.

Iran is a different story. Iran/Persia has been around many thousands of years as a distinct nation. It has a culture and common national identity pre-dating Islamic conquest (Islam being the only glue holding many of these Middle Eastern nations together). Additionally, Iranians are educated. Most live in cities. Iran is much closer to what we would consider a developed country than any of the Middle Eastern nations USA has tried to do regime change in. This means the population has a reason, ability, and knowledge necessary to take their country back from despots who have ran it for 47 years. This means Iranians in cities are more likely to envy what Americans have than some Afghani poppy farmer. Iranians from all over Iran have a reason to have a common national goal, in the way Afghanis do not. The recent anti-government protests even in the face of tens of thousands of citizens getting machine gunned down by their own government is evidence of this. They just need their government weakened so they can't machine gun down more civilians in less time than the Allies killed during the bombing of Dresden in WWII.

do you understand how missiles, drones, and air defence systems work? not only can so much go wrong with the missiles' navigation systems themselves, there can be intentional interference that completely fucks up the route, and it ends up landing somewhere else. any control access could be lost, and it comes down wherever. missiles or drones could have been hit by air defence systems and the debris caused the damage, or the same defence missiles changed the trajectory. and this is just off the top of my hat.

wanting to fully villainize the US or israel is an understandable reflex, but making shit up does not help. if it turns out they did intentionally target a school, the political reaction will not be good, and neither needs more bad press.

then, of course, there's the option that the iran itself caused civilian casualties so they can get the international opinion on their side. that kind of bad press for the US or israel is excellent good press for the country that was/is being lead by a fascist regime.
