My boyfriend, Denis, was diagnosed with severe KERATOCONUS, a disease that affects his sight and as it develops, he can lose his entire vision at 22 years old, if not treated and he will never fulfill his dream, which is to become a surgeon to save lifes and help other people who are in need… 

To treat this problem, he needs a surgery, called Cross-linking and escleral lenses to correct his sight, however, the public healthcare system in Brazil doesn’t cover this procedure and neither does the lenses. And it’s extremely expensive to pay for it if you want it in the private system and we can’t pay for it. We are university students (I do nursing and he does pharmacy school, but his dream is to study medicine) and what we make for a living barely can cover the costs of our survival (rent, food, internet for studies, water and electric energy bills, etc). 

The surgery costs around $850 dollars, which converted in our currency (reais), it’s R$4.600 , the escleral lenses, which he needs for a better sight after the surgery, it costs around $650 dollars the pair, which converted in reais, it’s R$3.360. 

IN SHORT: we need $1.500 dollars to afford his treatment so he can continue to study and not lose his sight. And with our salary, we can’t afford that. So I ask for your help if you can donate ANYTHING! Even $1 dollar counts, anything will help! You can help by reblogging this post, too!!
