Now that that’s out of the way let me explain the purpose of my blog. I post pagan and pagan adjacent characters! I am aware everyone has a different definition of paganism. I’m going by the definition of paganism as an animistic, polytheistic, or nature based religion outside of abrahamic beliefs and anything similar. Due to using a broader definition I may post about religions that not everyone would consider pagan such as Hinduism. This is not me telling you that you should consider it pagan! I’m not here to dictate your understanding of religion. I’m posting these because they have many traits in common with pagan religions and I want to bring them visibility too! It’s all in the motivation of connection with similar people :)

She’s a descendant of the Tuatha Dé Danann so of course she believes in it. She ends up befriending a Catholic boy and showing him that the old ways aren’t all lies.

This is not necessarily canon. It’s complicated. In the film he is raised Catholic until he meets a member of the Tuatha Dé Danann in the forest. He befriends her and ends up discovering that the “pagan nonsense” that had been dismissed by his uncle is all real. By the end of the film he’s still Catholic but most likely has more belief in pagan tradition in the region, potentially combining the two in his beliefs.

Canon I think? Her religion isn’t explicitly stated in the film but there are Gaelic pagan symbols and Scottish pagan beliefs throughout the film. Even in the brief glance we get of death it seems like a more pagan depiction of it. It’s set in the Scottish highlands and there’s no Christian symbols in sight so it must be pre christianization. All of these things considered, she’s likely pagan as are the other characters.
