In a historic vote in May, 141 countries supported a UNGA (UN General Assembly) resolution affirming that states have a legal duty to prevent the climate crisis from getting worse. Only 8 voted no (of course including big emitters and warmongering countries like the US, Russia, Israel and Saudi Arabia), with 28 abstentions.

The resolution builds on the ICJ’s (International Court of Justice) landmark 2023 advisory opinion the biggest climate case ever heard which found that governments must act on the “existential threat” of climate change under international law. But while the advisory opinion did not come with any legal pressure, the new UNGA resolution does.

Vanuatu, the Pacific nation that championed the case, called it a win for frontline communities. Their climate minister: “Today the international community affirmed that climate change is not only a political and economic challenge, but a matter of law, justice, and human rights.” 

The US had reportedly lobbied hard against the resolution, but it passed decisively anyway.

This isn’t just politics anymore it’s law. Fossil fuel giants and governments can no longer treat climate action as optional.

Like I know that this problem feels beyond us, and that so much of it is caused by people who can pay their way out of accountability. But one million people receiving a call to action has infinitely more value than one million people sitting paralyzed with fear.

There is no impactful difference between someone who doesn't believe in climate change and someone who does but carries on as they always have. Both are complacent in the death of the world.

And I think that many people want to help but are scared. Or don't know where to start. It can be as simple as not using AI. It can be as simple as not buying new clothes and repurposing or regifting old ones. It can be as simple as boycotting the largest polluters. Whatever feels the easiest. Start there, and then take a little more. And then a little more. The world isn't just going to explode one day, it is going to keep going. It is resiliant and is begging to heal, and every small choice turns into a big choice when everyone does it.

Each day in Gaza feels like a battle to survive. The occupation has declared Gaza a "dangerous combat zone" and now threatens us with a ground invasion. We are terrified, knowing that any moment could be our last if we stay. Like so many families, we have been told to flee south but leaving is not simple.

We need a tent to give us even the smallest sense of shelter, which costs $450 . We need $200 just to reach the south safely. And on top of that, the 30% withdrawal fee (about $200), which makes our struggle even heavier.

We are not asking for comfort only for the chance to survive, to protect our loved ones, and to have a roof, even if it is made of cloth, over our heads. Your support is the only light we have in this darkness.

If you live in the EU, you absolutely need to pay attention to what's to come. What is Chat Control, you may ask? In a (failed) attempt to combat child abuse online the EU made Chat Control, Chat Control will result in getting your private messages and emails to be scanned by artificial intelligence aka AI to search for CSAM pictures or discussion that might have grooming in there. And on top of having your private conversations handed to AI or the police to snoop in, like your family pictures, selfies, or more sensitive pics, like the medical kind, only meant to be seen by your doctors, or the "flirtatious" kind you send to your partner, you either have to ACCEPT to be scanned...or else you will be forbidden from sending pictures, videos, or even links, as said here.

Kids should absolutely be protected online, without question, but the things that Chat Control gets wrong is that this is a blatant violation of privacy, without even considering the fact that AI WILL create tons of false positives, this is not a theory, this is a fact. And for all the false positives that will be detected, all of them will be sent to the police, which will just flood their system with useless junk instead of efficiently putting resources to actual protect kids from predators.

It also does not help that politicians, police officers, soldiers etc will be exempt from Chat Control if it passes. If it's for the sake of protection, shouldn't everyone get the same treatment? Which further prove that Chat Control would NOT keep your data of private life safe. Plus, bad actors will simply stop using messenger apps as soon as they know they're being tracked, using more obscure means, meanwhile innocent people will be punished by using those services On top of this, the EU also plans on reintroducing Data retention called "EU Going Dark". Both Chat Control and EU Going Dark are clear violation of the GDPR, and even if they shouldn't stand a chance in court, its not going to prevent politicians from trying to ram these through as an excuse to mass surveil European citizens, using kids as a shield. Even teenagers sending pictures to each other won't be exempt, which entirely goes against the purpose of protecting kids by retaining their private photos instead. Furthermore, once messaging apps are forced to comply with Chat Control, the president of Signal, a secured messaging app with encryption, have confirmed that they will be forced to leave the EU if this is enforced against them.

If Chat Control also ends up targeting any websites with the option of private messages, you better expect Europe to be geo-blocked by any websites offering such function. I would also like to add that EU citizens were very vocal in the fight against KOSA, an equally bad internet bill from the US-- and it showed! Which is why we heavily need the help of our fellow US peers to fight against Chat Control too, so please, because we all know if it passes, the US government will take a look at this and conclude "Ooh, a way to force mass surveillance on citizens even more than before? don't mind if I do!" It's always a snowball effect.

KEEP IN MIND THE EUROPE COUNCIL WILL LIKELY VOTE ON CHAT CONTROL THIS 19 JUNE OF NEXT WEEK TO SEE IF IT WILL ENTER TRILOGIES OR NOT. Even if it does enter Trilogues, the fight will only be beginning. Absentees may not count as a no, so it is crucial that you contact your MEPs HERE, as well as HERE, and you can also show your support for Edri's campaign against Chat Control HERE.

Hello everyone, I am Rewaa Amir, a mother of five children from Gaza. A year ago, our lives were filled with love, ambition, and dreams, but in one moment, everything have turned into a nightmare.

My eldest son, Kinan, who is 13 years old,has been dreaming of becoming a doctor. He was an excellent in his studies, love listening to music, and playing football with his friends. He would always talk about how he would save lives when he grew up. Taim, who is 10 years old, loves cats and hopes to become a veterinarian one a day. He used to take care of the cats joyfully in the neighborhood. Akram, who is seven years old, has been dreaming of becoming an engineer to help rebuild his city. Amir, who is five, loves drawing and fills our house walls with his innocent drawings. And then there’s Salma, my only daughter, who is three years old. She brings joy into our lives with her childish smile.

But on 7th October, everything has been changed. We woke up to the terrifying sounds of explosions. The bombing was so intense that the sky turned to fire. My children’s screams mixed with the sound of the blasts. I didn’t know what to do other than hold them tight and pray to God to protect us.

We were forced to flee our home, which had been our only refuge, and became refugees in our own country. Kinan is still kept asking me, "Mama, will we go back home? Is my school still there?" and I couldn’t give him an answer. The dream of Kinan to be a doctor was fading away. As for Taim, who used to play with the cats every day, he cried when he realized we couldn’t take anything with us, not even his toys or his beloved cat,dearest friend.

Since then, our life has became a battle for survival. My husband Mutez Akrem lost his job because the factory he worked at was destroyed, and we no longer have any income. We’ve had to move multiple times, and each time we leave behind a piece of our lives. Now, we are living in a simple rented house in an area we don’t even know if it’s safe or not. Our debts are piling up, and we cannot afford food, water, or medicine for our children.

The war has made life unbearable here. Prices have skyrocketed; what we used to buy for one dollar, now costs twenty. I cannot bear to see my children hungry, and I cannot face the thought of losing this simple home too because we cannot pay the rent.

Every night, my children ask me, "Mama, will we go back to our house? Will we see our friends again?" and all I have for them are tears.

This is why I am writing to you now. We need help to survive. We need support to secure food, water, and medicine for my children. Every donation, no matter how small, can make a big difference in our lives. We are not asking for much, just a chance to survive, a chance for my children to keep dreaming.

Since the first day of the war, my family has been displaced several times , and We lost our life and our warm home in north of Gaza for too long time .

My family is experiencing their third displacement, living in difficult conditions without proper bedding or warm clothes.

My family are going through an extremely tough time, and I've lost hope in everything. I turn to this platform seeking help to save what can be saved. My family consists of 7 people.

I have nothing in this world except my family, and I work hard to take care of them. The danger is approaching, and I kindly ask for your help to secure my family living expenses during this long war.

It's challenging for us to provide the amount requested for live in normal human life as the Gaza city became the most expensive city in the world (as international news agencies reported).

We need about 2000$ to 2500$ per month to live normal human life, which includes rent, food, drinking water, medicine, shelter, hygiene, protection, etc).

We also debit for amount of 10000$ that we lost our jobs and work from the beginning of this war and also lost our savings accordingly.

In total we need 55,000 to secure our family life for upcoming months with the minimum for normal human needs.
