THIRTY SECONDS TO MARS CONFESSIONS

Beginnings

I have to admit that I only got into 30 Seconds to Mars in late 2010. Kings and Queens - my favourite song until today - was playing on the radio and some night I got to iTunes and downloaded the song along with Closer to the Edge and The Kill. My musical taste changed a lot during 2009 and 2010 so I was happy to have discovered an awesome "new" band!

Luckily, I wasn't the only one obsessed with Jared, Shannon and Tomo. In early 2011 a good friend of mine asked me whether I would go to a 30 Seconds to Mars concert with her. I was overwhelmed - and frustrated at the same time because the show had nearly been sold out! I knew I could have ordered tickets earlier but until 2011 I was not a frequent concert goer. It was not until August 24, 2011 that my love for concerts and bands really began to evolve. Me and a good friend went to Mannheim, Germany to see Mars for the very first time. We had shitty places, far away from the stage - but we had the night of our lives! The energy, the positive vibes.... this was a night we would never forget! That night I fell in love with Jared Leto, Shannon Leto and Tomo Milicevic.

In between

From the summer of 2011 I began to really sink into the world of Mars. My friend and I came together multiple times to watch Jared's movies and to remember our concert experience. When the band announced their "10 year hiatus" we were shocked although we knew that they would be back soon!

Love, Lust, Faith + Dreams

I can't describe my excitement when I heard that Mars would be working on a new album in 2012/2013! This would be the first Mars era I would be able to experience first hand... the time leading up to LLFD was filled with excitement, memories and joy! I pre-ordered the album in May 2013 - only weeks before the band announced their next Germany tour dates.

I immediately called up my concert friend and ordered tickets for the November 7 show in Frankfurt, Germany! This time we would make sure to buy awesome places - even though we didn't sit a second. For safety reasons we had to choose seating places because one of our friends was disabled. The summer of 2013 was again filled with excitement and especially the fact that I would go to the concert with the friend I already had my first Mars show with in 2011 was amazing :) On November 7 our story went on. I have to admit that the seconds Mars show was not as good as the first one but the enegery and vibe was still there. My friends and I also bought a whole lot of merch. I put my (crappy) concert videos into a whole and uploaded it to YouTube.

LLFD part 2

So I got back to university that winter and had to write my bachelor thesis. After a stressful time a university friend called me up and asked me whether I wanted to go to a Mars concert with her. My first thought was "Oh my God, how am I going to make it to Mönchengladbach, that's on the other side of Germany". But the decision to go to that concert was seriously THE BEST Mars related decision I ever made! I got myself the ticket for my third Mars show to as a little rewad for my bachelor's degree which I finished two months before the show. On June 25, 2014 I travelled to Mönchengladbach with a friend and attended my third Mars concert!

It was the BEST day of my life! The vibe in between all those Echelon - simply unforgettable! We camped outside the arena and waited more than 12 hours. When we finally got in we received the pit wristbands and I honestly almost passed out when I saw Jared come out on stage. The only one missing that evening was Shannon - but the other to guys gave their best in entertaining all of us. That night my level of Mars fandom reached a new high because I seriously had the best time! I sang along, jumped and touched the sky! I will NEVER forget that evening as it really taught me what music and concerts are able to do!

And the story goes on ... ON VYRT?

I am lucky to have been able to attend three Mars shows! Another highlight would be a VYRT concert as I have never VYRTed before.
