THIRDS - Destructive Delta

Since I’ve never written anything beyond an amazon product review I’m going to keep my introduction as short as possible and start with a few questions first.

If you’re still reading, congrats! It probably means you found something that catched your interest just as it did for me.

THIRDS is a book series about the Unit DESTRUCTIVE DELTA. A bunch of perfect imperfect individuals (human and shapeshifter Agents alike) who devoted their lives to protect the citizens of Manhattan from terroristic threats of all sorts. 

Unlike many other shapeshifter storys you might know from several supernatural genre TV Shows  out there the shifting part in this books doesn’t come without sideffects or make them invincible . Therefore the shifters never feel dehumanized despite their strength and deadliness. PSTC (Post Shift Trauma Care) is a part of their routine alongside their daily duties to the city and usually gets performed by trusted people (partner or family) because it leaves them in a state of exceptional vulnerability that doesn’t need to be exposed to just anyone.

Along the series we learn more about the individual stories of the THIRDS Agents from Unit Alpha…their struggles, their suffering but also plenty of humor. Especially when the newest addition to the team arrives. DEXTER J. DALEY a rather weird human despite his age but with a huge genuine heart that helps DESTRUCTIVE DELTA to recover from recent tragic events which left them almost broken. 

On a rather personal note, some things that impressed me most:

Despite couples being build, no character gets left behind or sidelined, they all find their individual connection to each other along the journey

The characters are very three-dimensional in their personalities and the way they deal with stuff.

Character developement is fluent and strong

Mental issues are getting handled very realistic and sensitive.

The fluctation between action, humor and romance is perfectly timed for maximum pleasure on all levels.

The fictional world is wonderfully rich build to easily dive in but not getting lost or distracted by an overwhelming amount of details.

In conclusion I took one of my favorite quotes from the books that explains it better than I ever could:

“THIRDS agents are more than a team, they’re a family through thick and thin, and along the way, some find true love. While every day brings dangers and challenges, one thing will never change: standing up for what you believe in and protecting the people you love is never optional.”
