So is reblog is also not permitted?
Thatâs the difference. Reblogs are good! You promote the artist and their work.
At least for me repost is ok only in one condition: you asked permission and the artist said âyesâ.

We have an internet lawyer over here.Â
From the same legal school of thought that brought us, âIf youâre a cop you have to tell me!â and âyou canât remove that tag from the mattress!â
Me or my friend?Â

I have been meaning to make this for a while but a recent string of it has encouraged me to do so sooner rather than later.
If you see a caption that doesnât match the source, find out why. It usually means someone along the way has deleted the original posters(op) caption and inserted their own, usually after the op has specifically asked for that not to happen.
If you want to continue to see great content from great bloggers then you have to support and respect them. I have found some of my favorite blogs by finding out someoneâs original intended story and it is wonderful.
We are people. Not faceless images. Humans. With hearts, souls and emotions. Stop devaluing our experiences. Stop stripping away that humanity for your own selfishness.
You are being let into peopleâs lives, respect that.
Now do I have to say, âleave caption on imageâ, probably.

Like most of the sourceâs blog, this is stolen. This time from @quantumsatis.Â
Why are we screenshotting instead of reblogging?

Really so tired of these assholes who get popular by stealing othersâ work. Even if this site is shit now.
Wouldnât be surprised if the erotica she is selling on Amazon is actually old stuff sheâs just found on ASSTR and is passing off as her own.
Since this was once again posted with the credits removed, *long sigh* Iâll reblog and give credit to @alphaedge whom these words belong too.

What you donât seeâŚ. you donât see how excited she gets in this win / win situationâŚ.
@intelligenceisaturnon but disregard for othersâ intellectual property is not.
Several images taken from @kinkyquotes among the many stolen images on this blog. Then she had the temerity to post about how she would block people who removed her captions from the misappropriated photos she posts.
Just to be clear⌠all anyone has to do is send me a list of things they own and would want removed and itâs done. This blog is all about my writing. All the pics / gif that I use that are not of me come from general google search. They spark inspiration of words that I write regarding them. I donât want my writings to be used, so I get it. Again, Iâm not claiming any of those pics, quotes, gifs ect are mine. Just random google searches. All it takes is a notification of ownership and there gone.
Why does the person who already spent their time, energy, and possibly money on creating these images have to spend even more of it to contact you to remove it?
What they should do, what I hope each creator will do â though most do not have the infinite resources you seem to think to track down each time some clueless, self-righteous individual who thinks just because you can google it, it belongs to the world reposts their work â I hope they will report the misrepresentation of their work. Unfortunately, most have found this often is a waste of the time they are already having to spend on policing their content rather than creating new and just give up trying. Or give up creating altogether. That is why this account exists. But also why so many creators just give up creating altogether.
P.S. I googled some of your original writing; does that mean I get to cut and paste it into a new post of its own on my page now?
They can do whatever the fuck they want⌠talk about why creators give up⌠irony. Iâm quite sure your intention is to see the same thing happen to others. There isnât any malicious stealing here. Any of the quotes have tags on them they stay. Stealing would be looking up a quote, saying ect, then creating my own post using those words and signing it as if it was my original thought. Any one can read on the pic/gif where it originated if that chosen one is used. Any tags of a creator or originator Iâve used are never removed. I never claim to be the creator of a pic, gif or quote unless I tag it #me.
My only intention is to inform. To inform creators when their property has been used without proper sourcing, and to inform others of sources they may wish to avoid. I personally hold no ill will against you, nor do I wish to stifle your creativity. I didnât actually read any of your writing, but I encourage all forms of self-expression and would love for you to continue. The only thing Iâve done and wish to do is point out that at least one person you are using images from already has a tumblr so maybe you could reblog from them rather than reposting their images so that they can get the credit they deserve. Or you might add a link to where you found your images, assuming where you found them didnât also steal them.Â
Theft is still theft when it doesnât involve malice.
When you post an image that does not belong to you, it is theft. I know it is hard to accept that what youâve been doing is violating another personâs rights when you didnât previously understand this, but that doesnât change it as a fact. I encourage you to just take a minute and consider how you would feel if someone found your personal photo on google and posted it on their blog with no credit to you. Maybe youâre okay with it; maybe youâre not. But literally all I can ask is for you to consider it.
Perhaps using a tone and explanation like this last one would serve your persecution better⌠people tend to listen and not react when you sound rational and not combative and accusatory. Perhaps lead off with this instead of pulling it out in a third or fourth interaction.
Still wondering why you put the onus on others to be patient with you, notify you, when you are the one in the wrong. But okay. Go off, I guess.

Okay, I feel like a complete drama queen doing this but this is SO VERY IMPORTANT to me and I need to vent. When you repost things instead of just as easily reblogging them so that they are sourced properly, it discourages artists. It keeps them from sharing, perhaps from even creating. And a stifled artist of any kind is sheer tragedy. Before I share any further, I want to make it clear that I in no way speak for gemmasroom (though I kinda did and I apologize if that was a problem). I donât even know gemma other than being a fan of her pretty little graphics.Â
Today I happened to see this post on my feed. It was shiny and new with no posts at all so I sent a message to the person who posted hoping theyâd just take it down and reblog from the original post at the link I provided in the message. Instead, this is what happened:
kinkylittlefatgirl:Â Can I encourage you to take the time to seek out the original post when you find a graphic you like which has a clear tumblr watermark on it? It is deeply appreciated by those of us who enjoy seeing our content being enjoyed, and thus encourages more original content overall. Thanks! http://gemmasroom.tumblr.com/post/77470718483
blueeyecandy:Â Iâm not sure what you mean?
kinkylittlefatgirl:Â The gemmasroom image. It has a watermark on it which states it came from her tumblr. I linked the original post at the end of that last message. :c)
When you repost an image rather than going to the watermark link and reblogging, you remove the ability for the creator to watch it gain notes and reblogs. Since most Tumblr artists do not get paid, their compensation is being able to see that their time and energy isnât wasted. I have several of my own graphics which have been reposted in this manner and have gained thousands of notes, yet my original posts only have a hundred or two. Knowing it is being enjoyed regardless of who posted it is lovely and all, but it is frustrating to not be able to get notifications. It is such a thrill to see each little like and reblog. And it is defeating to know that someone else is basically getting the credit. A lot of artists give up sharing for this reason.
I realize that some donât have the experience with this kind of thing to draw on so donât understand why it is important to reblog from the original post. Basically I am simply appealing to your sense of decency and hoping that perhaps in the future youâll take a few extra minutes to search for the post on the blog in the link written on the image (when it exists) and use the reblog rather than repost a whole new version of it.
Thanks for taking the time to consider it!
blueeyecandy:Â Found it on Facebook and shared it.didnât know it was a big deal.sorry. Iâm not going to hunt down where something came from. I share what I like.90percent comes from Facebook. Donât repost much I find on here.
kinkylittlefatgirl:Â I figured you didnât know it was a big deal. Thatâs why I brought it to your attention. Having posted it, I assume you are not blind and that you can read. I assume that you could see the plainly displayed tumblr link written directly on the image you posted regardless of where you found it. I assume that you have the negligible computer skills it takes to use Tumblr. All that assumed, I am sorry to hear that youâve not enough respect or decency to take the two minutes it took me to find the original post on gemmaâs blog.
People like you are the reason the same bullshit is reposted and reposted without as much new content created. Who wants to go through the trouble when they know people like you will just repost it ignorantly even after hearing the reasons it is worth taking an extra moment or two. Sad. Truly.
blueeyecandy:Â Name calling very nice. I never saw a list of these rules when I started posting. Donât follow my post and it wonât be a big deal.I thought this was my personal page to post what I like.I didnât know someone needed to ok what I think is a nice post. I donât really understand why you are getting so upset. Do you police tumbler? Where is it written that I canât post what I like? Does posting something first make you the owner of it.and no one else may post it? Sorry for getting your panties on a wad by enjoying my page.
kinkylittlefatgirl:Â At no time did I call you names, nor did I say that you shouldnât post what you like. You absolutely should post whatever you like.
I simply suggested doing it in a more considerate manner. This is not a matter of who posted first. She CREATED the image so, to answer your question, yes, she does own it. Contrary to popular belief, posting on the internet does not remove an artistâs rights. Not that she is likely to assert them, but that does not negate the fact that she does retain rights to her work.
As for rules, no, there isnât a list of rules, nor am I in any position to police anything. I also didnât attempt to. What I did was politely inform and suggest that it would be nice if you were to be thoughtful about posting something directly when it wouldâve taken minimal effort to give consideration to the creator.I made every effort to be cordial in that request, hoping and believing you might at least give it some thought. I suppose I should by now know better to expect such things of a Tumblr dom.
~~~ So, yeah⌠reading back as I repost I do see that I got pretty snippy in the third message. Iâm a bitch, what can I say. But letâs be honest and acknowledge that I was perfectly polite and willing to explain in the beginning. It was the apathy of the reply which got under my skin. The frustration of knowing there is nothing I can say which is going to make him see that this is something worth at least considering. And, really, that is all I asked. I simply stated that it would be a lovely thing to do. He was not even willing to go that far and that is what not only aggravates but saddens me.Â
As I see it, this all boils down to basic human decency. When someone tells you that a small gesture which costs you nothing but a few minutes of your day would make such a difference and you cannot even take the time to mull that over⌠I donât know. I just donât get it. Does not compute.Â
Plagiarist.
Hi followers. If you produce original content for your blog, signs and stuff like that, I recommend you go through this personâs archive to make sure you havenât been plagiarized.
Here are some examples of what was done to mine:
Original/Copy
Original/Copy
I reported those images but the response from Tumblr was less than satisfactory:
âThank you for your note. Based on our policies, unfortunately we cannot take action at this time.â
Iâve asked for explanation but in the meantime if you create stuff for your Tumblr take a look in case youâre being copied as well.
