Vampires.
You and your regressor both have the same kintype. You're vampires. The difference is you're a century old vampire while your regressor is a modern one.
You do almost everything at night. Work, school, chores, shopping and other things. Your regressor stays up with you but they're more active during the day. That means waking up every afternoon to the breakfast your regressor made you. Burnt pancakes and eggs with too much pepper. You eat it anyways.
When your regressor is upset or overwhelmed, you know that the dark helps. Sitting together in a pitch black room calms them down more than anything.
You're always covered in bite marks from your little one. You bite them back. It's how you show love to each other. If you're lucky, you get to taste a bit of their blood but you avoid causing them a lot of pain.

Caregiver that's bad at comforting others and their regressor who's uncomfortable being fussed over.
Wiping their tears before continuing whatever you were doing. Handing them their comfort item when they seem upset. Squeezing their hand when they seem overwhelmed. At urgent care because we decided to see how far we could fly off the swing set at the park and now we both have bruises, scrapes, and minor fractures.
But we're getting matching casts, ice cream right after and I'm taking you to the toy store to pick out something for being so brave during a scary event.

Dissociation.

Hot day.
Laying on the living room floor together. We're dressed in the thinnest, most breathable clothes we can find. The AC leaks so we're using fans to cool off. We're sipping on slushies because water is good for the heat but slushies taste better. The tv plays a show that's mildly entertaining. Getting up for the remote isn't worth it. You've been fussy for a while.
You don't like the heat either. I lean over and kiss your forehead. A quick peak because affection is uncomfortable in this weather. "You want more?" I ask you. You babble something I don't understand. I take that as a yes. I give you the rest of my slushie and eat frozen cherries instead. You immediately spill some on yourself since it's not in a baby bottle.
I lazily clean up the mess with nearby baby wipes. Go back to eating cherries and watching the show. "Don't melt." I tell you with heat exhausted humor. You babble again and focus on the leftover slushie.
I want to watch mature shows with my regressor. Judge the scenes on how good the gore is, roll my eyes at the unrealistic murders, take mental notes on the types of torture, yell at the screen with my little because the characters keep sparing people.
Not looking away. Not cringing. No tears from my little because they like violence and blood, like me.

Breakfast.
I forgot to add seasoning to your eggs. I cut my finger while chopping fruit horribly. Your sausage is overcooked because I didn't trust the oven mitts. I spilled juice two times while filling your sippy cup.
But the eggs aren't under or overcooked. I managed not to get blood on the fruit. The sausage is edible. I remembered to use the orange juice with no pulp, like you asked. So not a complete breakfast failure.
As an older brother caregiver I will:
Try to help you with your homework but give up after twenty minutes and just google the answers
Ruffle your hair, gently squeeze the back of your neck or pat your shoulder every time I pass by you
Start a new show with you and watch a couple of episodes daily. Either in the morning or the evening
Buy you something whenever I go to the store. A food or drink that you like. Even if I'm low on money
Stand up for you when you won't or can't. Getting into arguments with strangers, family or friends
Rage bait you. Not anything that would genuinely upset or hurt you. Just doing something annoying
Pack your lunch for school or work. Your favorite snacks + something that would keep you full. And a handwritten note with something dumb or a doodle
Play fight with you. Arm wrestling, pulled punches, chokeholds, attacking with a empty paper towel roll
