The Vivi Factor

Oh boy did she spoiled me rotten! I was and am the happiest Little there ever could be! First off, Sunday night, a couple minutes before midnight, my pledge class and I were all  texting each other about what could possibly be waiting for us when the clock struck 12. We had been told that at exactly 12 am Monday morning Big/Little Week would officially start so we were to stay up and wait for that moment. When the clock finally struck twelve, we all went crazy practically screaming in the group chat that we had gotten a friend request from out Big’s on Facebook. But not as themselves. No no, we weren’t allowed to know who they were until Friday, so I got a friend request from “Vivian Bigg”. She had even used an old picture of me as the profile picture and the cover picture she used is perfect!

  Disney, Supernatural and my Big?!

  This cover picture not only had Supernatural and Dean Winchester’s beautiful face but also Disney! I very much love all things, Disney. If I have the option of listening to calm nature sounds in the morning and Disney music, Disney wins 99.99% of the time. You want to go to Disneyland anytime soon? Let’s go, I have a pass! You want to go see the new Disney movie coming out but feel a little too old to go by yourself? I am there by your side waiting in line to watch it with you. I love Disney!

Anywho, back to my awesome Big! The account she made was for us to be able to communicate and send each other cute pictures during the week. And also, for her to send me clues about her so I could start guessing who she was. This was literally the most exciting and confusing week of my first semester in college. My Big would give me all these clues and I would put them together to find that she could be multiple people that I got to know over the month I had been in my chapter. ( Big if you’re reading this, you confused me so much! I know I’ve told you multiple times but it’s so true! ) But it was definitely a very fun game to ask her questions and not know who in the chapter I was talking to. And as I mentioned before, I was spoiled rotten that week!

During that very exciting first day, I got my very sparkly and beautiful box from my Big. The contents of the box were all sparkles and shades of blue. I love the color blue, but unfortunately, I cannot pick a favorite, which my Big was not very happy about because she didn’t know what I would like. ( Sorry about that Biggie! )

  On Tuesday, I felt like my Big was going to take me out on a Big/Little date from how awesome her gifts were! In my head, I was saying, “Yes Big let’s go on a Big/Little date!”

  Starbucks, Chocolate, and Flowers?! OH MY!

  Wednesday’s gifts were so on point and cute I was practically bouncing off the walls! These gifts were all things Disney with my favorite character Sully, my favorite Disney princess Belle, a super cute Marie clipboard, and a Disney Delta Zeta shirt!

Thursday  I got home quite late to my house and found that my room had had a BIG makeover with streamers, balloons, and gifts!

Now before I get to Friday and Big Reveal, I want to mention some hints I’ve said in my previous posts. She was the third girl I talked to on the recruitment floor for Delta Zeta. She is one of the girls who brought me closer to making my choice of what sorority I wanted to pledge. She also “preffed” me on preference night and made my decision final on where I wanted my sorority life to start. From the beginning, she was leading me on my path and to being her little. She is truly an inspiration and has the sweetest persona. Not to mention her artistic skills are magical, like the Happiest Place On Earth which we both love. She’s brought so much joy to my new member process and I hope and know I have also brought joy into her life as well. Have you guessed who it is?

Well if you guessed Emily then, YOU’RE RIGHT! Yes, you guessed it! My Big is Emily! The short, cute, and lovable Delta Zeta that I met on the first day of recruitment!

  I’m so happy that this amazing journey brought us together! When you receive your big it is the happiest moment for both of you! The excitement I felt when I found out I had guessed correctly who my Big is made me scream! Well more like a squeal because that’s what came out of my mouth when the blanket that covered Emily fell and she was standing before me! She is the Biggest puzzle piece to make my sorority experience whole.

To say more would spoil the letter I will write for her at the end of the semester for when she graduates and sadly leaves her Littlest. Thank you for being the wonderful and caring human being that you are and I love you Biggie!

When you hear about girls finding their brides maids in their sorority house, this is not a joke, its completely true. I have seen pictures of sisters being in other sisters’, from the chapter, wedding. It is truly beautiful to see that the friendship does last for years to come. The closer I get and the more I learn about my sisters, I know that I want to keep these friendships for a lifetime.

But of course we needed to get to know each other before our friendships began…

New Member Retreat 2015

At our new member retreat in October we all took a drive down to Santa Monica to enjoy some time together on the beach. My pledge class and I, along with our Pledge Mama and Pledge Aunties, got to spend some amazing bonding hours together on the beach, taking pictures, eating snacks and basically just talking about ours lives.

During my new member period, these are the girls that I spent a lot of my time with and who I had new member meetings with every week. I have come to love all of them for who they are and where they come from.

As the sun started going down on our little retreat, we settled down on the blankets and we all got to share for how ever long we wanted how we felt about our journey so far. It was so heart warming to know that each and every one of us had had an amazing experience during this new time in our lives. We all are of different ages, races, and walks of life, but its wonderful to know that we all have one thing in common, we all love our sorority and the girls that make it up. We ended the night strolling on the pier, getting milkshakes and fries, and of course taking more pictures together.

But the fun didn’t stop there!

Sisterhood Retreat 2015

The next day was our Sisterhood Retreat with all the girls in our chapter! This was a BIG opportunity for my pledge class to meet more of the Active girls from our chapter and for them to meet us. And when I say BIG opportunity I mean this was our last bonding event all together before we, Pledge Class Fall 2015, got our Bigs! And I know what you’re asking yourself, “What’s a Big?”. Well my dear dear readers, a Big is an Active member of the chapter who has been a mentor and close friend to a pledge during her new member period. I will expand more on Big and Little in my next blog post when I tell you all about how I received my amazing Big and who she is! (Hint: She has already been mentioned in my previous blog post!)

But back to our Sisterhood Retreat and my beautiful sisters!

We had a fun filled day with team building games, silly games, and of course, bonding activities to get to talk to girls we hadn’t before. The bonding activities were my favorite out of everything. I loved being able to talk to the girls I hadn’t had the opportunity to before this retreat and knowing more about them. I wanna thank all the sisters that I got to know better that day for talking to me and letting me into your wonderful world of Delta Zeta. I am honored and privileged to call you all my sisters.

I have so much more to say about all my wonderful sisters, but I want to keep this one short so I can save the “more” for future posts. I can’t wait for you all to meet my Big when I tell you all about her in my next blog post. ‘Til next time!
