HELLO, World, and a very happy February to you! :) Here's a little band update for you since we have been a little quiet as of late. It's all good though, because we've been hiding away from the first cold month of the new year, in a warm and cosy studio... rehearsing some new songs, of course! We'll be hitting the studio tomorrow to record "These Things" followed by a music video shoot for it next Tuesday. In preperation of the video shoot I have been a little busy making some props. In contrast to our shoot on Tuesday, part of which is going to be in a very light-saving setting, I am not planning on keeping you in the dark on a few things "behind-the-scenes" for much longer: Here we have some polaroids which will be used during our shoot... the plan is to hang them from the ceiling using cotton string to get a nice ambience in our dimmed studio shots. Should look quite nice, what do you think?

Hello World!

It's Christmas time... If you are struggling to find the right present for a special someone, I have an idea for you - it's not expensive, it is eco friendly and comes from the heart (it will require a bit of time). It also doubles up as wrapping paper, just the sustainable, personalised, unique kind.

What you need: 1 plain cloth bag (might need ironing for best results) 1 Spray can, textile paint in your desired colour 1 big piece of cardboard - the thinner the better 1 cardboard cutter 1 pair of nail scissors 1 tape 1 old magazine to use as a working surface 1 old newspaper 1 rubber glove

Some time, patience and fun.   Step 1:
 Choose and print or create and trace your preferred motif onto a sheet of paper. Step 2: 
 Tape the piece of paper with your motif onto the cardboard to make sure it doesn’t slip around while cutting it out. Step 3: 
 Using a cardboard cutter, cut out all the black parts of your motif. This will take a bit of time and patience - be careful not to cut yourself on the sharp blade. Make sure you’re cutting into the magazine, not your table, floor...or knee! Step 4: When you’ve managed to get the shape going with the cutter, use the nail scissors to even out rough edges. Step 5: Spread out your cloth bag. If it has creases you want to get rid of these by ironing the bag before spraying. Step 6: Slide some layers of newspaper inside the bag while keeping the surface of the bag as flat as possible. Step 7: Place your cardboard cut out onto the bag and position it into place until you are happy with it. Use some more newspaper to cover up the rest of the tope bag to avoid getting unwanted colour on it. Step 8:
 Time to slip on the rubber glove and shake the spraying can. Holding down the cardboard cut out with the gloved hand, spray into the gaps and ridges of the cardboard. Step 9:
 When you have filled out all gaps remove the cardboard carefully, however as soon as possible. Step 10: 
Let the colour dry for 1-2 hours. Depending on the product it may take longer so make sure to read the back of the can. Step 11: 
You now have your own personalised cloth bag which makes a nice christmas present for your friends and family.

I am very happy to present to you... a little TheTreeHouseEscape band introduction video! Meet our band members and listen in to a band rehearsal of two of our tracks! :) 

Hello World! We had our first full band rehearsal this Wednesday - exciting stuff! :) Coincidentally we were rehearsing our first song called "Wednesdays" - a piece of Lindsay's wonderful songwriting!

Meet the gang: Nick, Emily, Connor, Lindsay and Schae.

Over the next few weeks I'm making Schae and Lindsay do a waste-reduction challenge: Every time they save on a plastic bag or water bottle by re-using it or any time they go on an adventure to the recycling bin, they write it down. No cheating. Winner gets... a cookie?
