Look what we dug up ! VJ Martha Quinn and a rare interview with the late, great Glenn Frey during MTV's 4th birthday celebration August 1st,
Hereās a link to an interview with Glenn Frey, circa 1985. Kind of interesting how he mentioned a few times that he was trying to reconnect with Don to write songs. š¤ I wonder if they actually got together back then, and wrote some things that never saw the light of day?
Remember the Eagles box set I bought and reviewed? Well, the price dropped considerably AGAIN on Amazon, so now you can get all 15 records for $139.73. That shakes down to only about $9.32 per record! Not sure why theyāre selling it so cheap now, but it would be an awesome Christmas gift for any Eagles fan!
I know Iāve posted this one before, but I love this shot of Joe!
Happy 72nd Birthday to Joe Walsh!

Unboxing: Eagles Legacy Vinyl
You may be asking yourself, āWhy show this now? Literally EVERYONE already has this set! Itās been out for a year!ā Well... maybe. But I watch a lot of vinyl unboxings on YouTube, and I have yet to see a video about this box set. So Iām choosing to write a post about the unboxing because, a) Iām too ugly to make a video, and b) Iām not too good with extemporaeous speaking, and Iād probably end up fawning over how the cute the guys were for 20 minutes. So here we go.
Letās start with the outside. GORGEOUS red marble design with the shiny, metallic lettering. Sturdy, thick slipcase that seems built to last. Also?? Heavy as a motherfucker. Donāt drop this thing on your foot, or youāll need to go to the hospital.
Onto the inside! The inner slipcase (also durable) contains two thick ābindersā with the records in them, one containing all studio albums, and the other containing live and bonus albums.
Here is the front cover for the Studio Albums binder. Of course, like past Eagles albums, the skull is incorporated into the art design. This binder contains all their studio albums from Eagles to Long Road Out of Eden.
This is the second binder, with the live and bonus tracks. It includes Eagles Live, Hell Freezes Over, the Millenium Concert (for the first time on vinyl) and a bonus record of B-sides and bonus tracks. Personally, I like the inclusion of the extra ābonusā disc, but some of the tracks arenāt anything special, as they are āsingle versionsā of studio album songs. Take for example āLyinā Eyes,ā where the single version was considerably shortened from the original, because the song is over six minutes long. Iād much rather hear the original version, with all the original lyrics. That being said, songs like āGet You in the Mood,ā āHole in the World,ā and āPlease Come Home for Christmasā are nice additions to this record, because they donāt appear on any of the studio albums. But you know what would have really been awesome? The inclusion of the Hell Freezes Over āSecond Nightā recordings and outtakes, especially āPeaceful Easy Feeling.ā ā¤ļø
As far as the artwork goes, I will say that this box set is stunning. Each record gets its own monochrome-designed image for its sleeve, and all the records have the uniform āEagles Legacyā center label. This is also the reason why I will be keeping my prior collection of Eagles albums, because I also love the original artwork. As much as I love the design and cohesiveness of this box set, I think I would have preferred all the albums to be in their original sleeves inside the slipcase. I would hate to miss out on cool bonuses like the poster inside Hotel California!
Another thing to take note of is how delicate the bindings of the record books are. You canāt open the book completely, or youāll be left with a giant tear in the binding, like I did here. š¬ The glue comes undone very easily if itās bent too much, which is odd for a box set of this price point.
Also included is a hardcover book, which was honestly one of the main reasons why I bought this set. It contains quite a few ānewā photos from the archives, which were very cool to see!
I will post more of the photo book photos in a separate post, as this one is getting kind of long. š
Since this is the first āanthologyā vinyl box set Iāve ever purchased, I guess I donāt have much to compare it to. I also purchased the CD version of the Legacy set a few months back, which also included a DVD of Hell Freezes Over, and a BluRay of the Farewell 1: Live from Melbourne concert. I kind of think that those same things should have been included with the vinyl box, considering that it was originally so much more expensive than the CD version. I also think the booklets between the vinyl and CD editions have different photos in them? But I may have to go back and check on that.
All in all, this is obviously the box set you want to get if youāre an Eagles completist, or just want to own all of their stuff (well, almost) on vinyl. There was a box set released a few years ago that only included the studio albums, so this second set with all the live stuff included is a nice upgrade. I didnāt think Iād be one of those fans that would repurchase something just because it was released in different packaging, but here I am. š It was an impulse buy (as most Eagles-merch related things are) on Amazon, and right now itās priced around $178. Thatās quite a discount, considering that the Eagles official website is still marketing it at $349. š± At the amazon price point, it shakes down to about $12 per record, which isnāt bad at all, considering that most new vinyl these days goes for $20 and up. I have yet to listen to the records, but Iāll be sure to write another review when I do! :)
The presale for the Eagles show I want to go to in St. Paul starts tomorrow morning. Iām hoping to get some good seats at a (fairly) reasonable price, so wish me luck! I had hoped that Iād be able to go to both St. Paul shows, but with the ticket prices as high as they are, I think Iāll stick with one. š¬ Oh well, itāll be an amazing show Iām sure. Best of luck to anyone out there looking to get tickets, too!
š š š Got my tickets to the Saturday show. They were pretty pricey, but I know theyāll be worth it! Perhaps Iāll try going to Fridayās show as well, if the tickets are cheap enough. We shall see.
