I found myself in the mood tonight to watch some old Grey’s episodes on DVD and remember 1) what being happy for two people in love feels like and 2) just how incredibly beautiful JCap is... le sigh!

Because it’s been far too long since the glasses of justice made an appearance in my life or on my blog. (Even though this particular pair has a slightly concave shape which makes me want to reach out and bend them out a tiny bit... it’s probably just SMarch’s prescription in these frames that has this effect... sorry Steph, you’re still just as beautiful!)

Don’t ask me, please. I can’t tell you, not here, not now. There’s so much to be said and I know I owe you more but please Olivia, remember. Know me like you used to and understand that right now I can’t be ‘Alex’ because Alex is in danger of flying apart at the seams. In this moment I am simply ‘Cabot’, for Cabot is powerful; she is professional; she has control. Cabot can get through this day, this terrifying, momentous, heart-pounding day with her mask still in place. And later, later when it’s over and you come to me in private, as I know you will, with tears in your eyes and a heart full of questions, then Alex will answer. She will crumble, she will seek forgiveness, she will pray like she’s been praying for months that you will understand and that somehow, despite everything, there will be a way to rebuild and repair the damage and that stepping into your arms will provide the comfort that she has lived without for five long, heart-breaking years.

There’s nothing like a few heated words to fuel the imagination.
