is because people have been arrested and put in fucking PRISON just for having gay sex in the privacy of their own homes. in the United States. this millennia.

if you think i'm joking, look up Lawrence v. Texas (2003). 14 out of the 50 US States STILL had laws on the books criminalizing sodomy--and yes, you could be imprisoned for multiple years and sometimes even life for repeat offenses.

in the years directly leading up to the landmark case, enforcement even in those 14 states varied, but it was absolutely weaponized against queer people, especially when stacked on top of other offenses to make up a longer sentence.

Caseon Blue

Thought I’d try my hand at a classic Sci-fi pulp paperback cover whilst also injecting some romance novel juice for intrigue. This is a story concept that spins-off a much larger series I’m working on that’s in development. What’s the book jacket blurb for this though? Here’s my take:

When Caseon—the last living vessel of an extinct alien civilization—chose love over legacy, he altered the fate of more than one world.

Forged from the preserved artificial consciousness of the ancient Reli and awakened centuries after their fall, Caseon was meant to be a bridge to a lost empire. Instead, he became something far more dangerous: a being who could choose his own path. Raised on Fieshtar, under the wary eye of High Lord Ben Voones and shaped by the compassion of Great Elder Lord Thenon Tar, Caseon navigates a galaxy that sees him as miracle, weapon, or mortal mistake.

But it is on Earth that everything changes.

There, he meets Dr. Radhika Gupta—brilliant, grounded, fiercely human. Through her, Caseon discovers something no programming prepared him for: love not as data, but as devotion. When the Interstellar Assembly debates the fate of more newly resurrected Reli—and whether Caseon himself represents hope or heresy—he must confront the question that has followed him since his awakening:

Is he the last echo of a dead world… or the beginning of something entirely new?

I’ve also included some concept art as well that I’ve toyed with, presenting the idea that Caseon started out as a ghostly broken AI hologram projected from an archival stone that was retrieved from the ruins of the planet, which his consciousness was then transposed into a synthetic body. The same goes for his compatriots in the last slide.

The SunTrekker

I don’t usually draw spaceships, but when I do, I usually start climbing the walls and questioning if I can get a refund on my art degree. Nonetheless, I endured. Here’s the hypothetical mockup cover for my series in perpetual development hell, Space Wolf.

As some of you may remember me mentioning off and on, it’s a spacefaring political thriller following rag tag group of refugees, outcasts, and exiles who work and travel the galaxy, lead by a compassionate, charismatic wolf-man, Captain Cade Thasar.

The ship itself is the SunTrekker— an old cargo hauler repurposed from a defunct American travel and shipping company in the far future; Cade had wanted to call it the “StarTrekker” but was dismayed when he learned that term was still under copyright.

Thought I’d start the new year with an original piece emulating the pulp Sci-Fi covers of old with two original characters of mine— ex-army data analyst and wrongfully accused fugitive Joanne Liddell and exiled Prince of the Wralian Empire Vrayer Marsurellia. Part of my developing series, Space Wolf.

Conceptually, these two characters come to meet aboard the SunTrekker cargo ship, where they live and work among other outcasts and exiles, and eventually form a combative simpatico, going on many adventures together and finding more in common than they think.
