got sent this little guy for valentines with a note to decorate it, so I leaf-ed him! 💗🍃🍃

I freaking love this cup. When it broke I felt a little pang of sadness. I love the idea behind kintsugi that highlighting the cracks in the mended piece showcase what makes the ceramic valuable and acknowledges the damage and repair that are both part of it’s journey. So I wanted to therapotterymend my cup with this philopottery. I used an improvised method since I don’t have a kit - basically binding the pieces with moulding clay, then using puzzle hardening glass-glue, gold powder and paint to get the appearance of gold metal lacquer. The process of mending and experimenting was so much fun and though it might not have been the traditional practice this tribute and my own interpretation of it was meaningful to me. Now I feel like my little cup is more beautiful and valuable than ever.
