So I got balls deep into TES. I mean I played Redguard and when Morrowind was released on the og Xbox I played it religiously. I have been a bit of a Bethesda simp eventhough their games can sometimes be a bit messy and lemme tell you sumn. I am no stranger to the disgusting racism that tends to go rampant when it comes to the fandoms of Bethesda games. Especially in TES community. It taught me at a very early age that if you are within a fandom of a franchise that's established heavily on left leaning politics/pro-LGBT+/pro-queer/anti-big government/etc. then it's inevitable youre going to invite the scummiest, smelliest, most opposite leaning individuals that will spew the vilest of takes and want to be included on conversations that dont center them or their values.

They'll mock, belittle, degrade, and say the most heinous shit and will begin establishing their own cliques of communities that think the "Farm Tool Joke" is funny and shouldn't be taken seriously or that "Ulfric Stormcloak is right" or "Imperials are soft liberals" or "N'wah" being used as a slur. The list goes on!

When I hopped off TES fandom I just...went to more niche fandoms that were smaller and less obnoxious. Its a hobby, whatever. Lo and behold my partner gets me into Fallout and I was justifiably wary because I had witnessed the same slop of subtext involving slurs/racial jokes/etc, but simply painted a different undertone and spearheaded more by BoS/Enclave simping.

So when I see people disregarding Maximus and Barb's autonomy or pushing them to the side to hyperfixate on the others or even outright degrading these two black characters that play a very important role to the story as well as being specific clatyclysts for other characters? Im hard side eyeing. Disappointed, but not surprised.

Im not and never will be a hater of the whole ghoulcy pair up because hell yeah. Rock on guys. Do your thing and indulge. What I am gonna be a proud hater towards are the said ghoulcy shippers who start hating on Maximus and Barb for half assed reasons without giving any reading comprehension or genuine character analysis beyond "oh they're just boring". Or start touting off some blatant microaggressions and having some shitty takes even when unprompted. Because let's be real, yall dont like them because they black and don't like interracial relationships.
