Today I am going to answer a question that I get asked a lot. Question: How Much Should I Deposit / Invest? The answer to that question is very subjective. Some say that "a minimum balance of 10 000$ is required", some others say "start small and then deposit more on the go". In my opinion, to know how much to invest, you have to start the other way around. How much risk per trade do you feel most comfortable with? Is it 20$? 50$ or 100$... Those who know me, know that I enter with a fixed risk per trade and always target at least double the risk. For some of you, 20$ is nothing, and the 40$ reward isn’t worth it. While for others 20$ may be too much, and thus can’t handle the loss. Find that 1% risk per trade that suits you best. Your 1% risk should not be too much for you, so you won’t get emotional. In parallel, it shouldn't be too small, as then you won't take your trading seriously. Find that 1%, then make it x100, that’s how much should deposit. This is Richard, also known as theSignalyst. The picture is self-explanatory. We are overall bearish from a long-term perspective trading inside the big dashed channel in black. Inside the black channel, we had the first impulse in red, then a correction in blue, and we are currently inside the second impulse movement (red channel). Inside the impulse movement in red, we can see three phases, which we can compare to the first red channel. We had our two impulse movements downward and two consolidations in gray. we are currently in the third gray consolidation. If History Repeats Itself, we still need a break below the third gray consolidation downward, to find support around the 10k-12k weekly demand for the next blue correction to start. The bulls would invalidate this scenario if we break above the upper red trendline, in this case we would have a premature / early correction. I would say “backtest” When you grasp the basics, this is where the fun begins. you know what to look for, you know how to read price action… now it is time to make good use of it by monitoring previous data and try to come up with a pattern that repeats itself. I personally came up with 4 patterns and have been using them for a couple of months now. You can start by choosing a specific pair and timeframe, scroll back as much as you can, and start monitoring, candle by candle, pattern by pattern, and ask yourself questions like: “how can I modify this classical pattern in a way to generate better results, better RRR” “Is there a pattern that repeats itself, that is not included in the textbook” HINT: there are plenty if you backtest enough you will find them. Trust me, trading is supposed to be simple (not easy) but we, humans, like to complicate things; especially when it comes to money. Develop your own trading style, backtest it, practice it, be confident with it, then repeat and repeat… When trading becomes boring, then you know that you are doing it right.
