I’m starting another side project on Patreon for $3+ about a topic I don’t feel gets enough focus: ptsd revolving around surgery.
I had plans to make this comic just after the surgery and ComicCon Seoul, but I couldn’t really figure out how I wanted to talk about it.
Lately I was struggling with things to draw for the Daily Doods on Patreon, so I figured I’d try it out again. I don’t think we as a society talk about post traumatic stress following surgery, and I know of two people who talked about the similar reactions I had: obsessive thoughts over “what else could it be”; reactions to being touched as a reminder of the operation; depression around lowered immunity and lethargy.
We should talk about it, and discuss the cultural differences to hospital care.

There was an artist on twitter who suggested to warm up for 45 minutes before working on your projects. I've started doing the same, and goodness, what a difference.
