I think my soul’s been healed

Mid-December 2025.

Odesa, Ukraine.

Mid-December

The attack came at night

and lasted until morning,

longer than usual.

I slept through it. I usually do,

despite the warnings.

apparently, I’m a heavy sleeper.

for almost a week, the city went dark.

attacks hit the infrastructure.

no electricity anywhere.

no water.

just darkness stretching across the streets.

annoying buzz of generators running the shops.

later, I wanted to play Sky.

In the middle of the chaos,

I still had a little battery left.

but the connection was weak,

barely enough to send a single message.

and yet

we don't survive.

we live.

we ate by candlelight with my roommate and friends.

my apartment had frozen solid,

and I was sick with a cough,

so they took me in.

walking to get groceries, we paused.

the lights were gone.

the city was silent.

and stars - stars shone brighter than I had ever noticed.

for a ling moment, the stars felt closer than ever.

I’m not posting this to be pitied.

I don't want awkward silence,

when someone doesn’t know what to say next.

I’m not an alien telling a horror story.

This is just a glimpse through my eyes,

of the good,

the bad,

the truth.

Even in the dark,

So there are five different things that happened in the new ditf update, but one of the things i wanna talk about is how Medkit was very kind towards sword upon their first meeting.

Sword wasnt in the line of inphernals she was healing. He just saw Medkit healing other inphernals and came up to her. Instead of telling him to wait at the back, all Medkit saw was a scared and traumatized child and went straight to healing him.

Not only that, she smiled softly at him and attempted small talk to calm Sword down. And even when she couldnt figure out why Sword cant be healed with her gear, Medkit still patched him up quickly b4 moving on to the rest of the inphernals that needed her.

Honestly? No wonder Sword latched onto him immediately. And no wonder Medkit wanted to be a teacher as said in his birthday QNA. From this interaction alone we can immediately deduce that she’s good at talking to kids and keeping them calm even in intense situations.

Doctors are trained to be friendly towards their patients, especially if said patients are children. And we can also see that Medkit is able to keep his cool and not be snippy at Sword for cutting in line. She knew he was scared and she wanted him to feel safe.

Also keep in mind, medkit JUST got out of a bad situation. Subspace was trying to kill her (not only ripping out her eye but also possibly damaging her horns) possibly a couple days ago, and now THIS happens?

Yet she still chose to be kind and friendly toward’s sword. Even letting him stay over until something can be figured out. And when she asks “How did you get this scar?” And sword doesnt answer, she doesnt pry him for a response.

I dont know how else to conclude this, but it’s honestly very easy to see why and how Sword and Medkit immediately became friends. As they both found each other in the aftermath of events that changed the trajectory of their lives forever.

Alongside the angst, i think this is the sweetest part of the update. And is probably my favorite part in DITF so far. Because we actually get to see Medkit being kind, as she often gets mischaracterized as someone who isn’t just because she doesnt smile a lot.

I just want to catch spelling errors and accidental double spaces and repeated phrases and whenever I use the wrong too/to or affect/effect and shit. But no. They've shoved AI up the ass of every grammar checking software out there and now they all fucking suck and make the most random, obnoxious, nonsensical suggestions.
