Once, I was a sapling, green and new,
Roots barely anchored, leaves kissed with dew.
The world a vast and wondrous unknown,
Each rustle, each shadow, a story unblown.
I grew with the sun, drank deep of the rain,
Felt the wind whisper secrets, again and again.
My branches stretched skyward, yearning for light,
Unafraid of the darkness, embracing the night.
Seasons turned, I weathered each storm,
Learned the lessons of nature, both gentle and warm.
I shed fragile leaves, embraced the bare bough,
Knowing deep within, new life would endow.
Now, a towering Sequoia, strong and serene,
I stand witness to time, a majestic scene.
My roots run deep, my canopy wide,
A haven for creatures, a place to confide.
Though the sapling is gone, its essence remains,
Woven into my bark, etched in my veins.
For growth is a journey, a constant rebirth,
From fragile beginnings to wisdom of the Earth.
Congratulations to everyone who got promoted today Iβm so proud of them!
I got the strangest message yesterday. Is hiring outside teachers for a martial arts school something that people actually do? In the system I trained in, assistant instructors were always the main instructor's students. I checked this person's personal page, and there isn't anything martial arts related there. They shared something from the school once, but that's all. I found them on LinkedIn too, and this person's background is entirely in sales, with a listing at the end as the owner of this place.
The strangest part is that I'm pretty sure my resume doesn't say anything about my experience in martial arts. I'm a software developer, and my resume shows that pretty clearly.
I got a job offer from one once. They say they do Krav / MMA but itβs really reflavored mc dojo karate in my experience. The owner had zero MA experience
Hey Budoblr β
What do you love most about the martial art you practice? What do you enjoy most about training in that style?
I like grappling because Iβm a pacifist. The ability to have a spectrum of force and control someone without hurting them is huge for me.
Zhang Weili is out here doing the full Rhea Rhipley pin to pass guard and take the back. What a freaking hoss.

Keep it playful
"Generating movement is crucial in judo to execute successful throws. While Ashi waza is an excellent technique, arm drags can also be a powerful tool! Check out this clip where I threatened my opponent with an arm drag, causing them to circle out. This gave me the opportunity to set up my angle and disguise my entry into O Uchi Gari.
Big thanks to Jakey for helping me perfect my nogi judo game!
