The Red Shrimp

A cute little juvenile one.

I don’t what what species it is but it was so damn cute!

...or so I think...

This teal color isn’t quite typical where I am - most are brown, reddish, or a much duller green.

Green fluorescent protein (GFP) was first isolated from this jelly!  Contrary to popular belief, only a ring around the margin of the bell is bioluminescent - the whole animal doesn’t glow.

On sensing a predator, this sea anemone detaches from the substrate and flexes is column back and forth to swim away with the current.
