The sign of high quality is the fact the book was banned by the government. Trash literature NEVER EVER had any troubles with the law.
FARENHEIT 451 IS ON THE BANNED BOOKS LIST??? ITâS LITERALLY ABOUT THE SOCIETAL DANGERS OF BANNING/OUTLAWING/BURNING BOOKS ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME
Thatâs the reason itâs on the bloody list.
BECAUSE ITâS ABOUT HOW BANNING AND BURNING BOOKS IS WRONG.
HEREâS ALL THE PDF VERSIONS I COULD FIND SINCE WEâRE ALL IN QUARANTINE AND WE CANâT PHYSICALLY GET THE BOOKS WE DONâT HAVE
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn
The Autobiography of Malcolm X
Beloved
Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee (this was the only free version I could find, and itâs a downloadable thing, so do so with caution)
The Call of the Wild
Catch-22Â (it was either this version or one where the entire thing was in comic sans font)
The Catcher in the Rye
Fahrenheit 451
For Whom the Bell Tolls
Gone With the Wind
The Grapes of Wrath
The Great Gatsby
Howl
In Cold Blood
Invisible Man
The Jungle (personally I donât like this formatting, but the site doesnât look sketchy soâŚ) - thereâs also this which is the proper book format in a pdf, but itâs directly photocopied so it might be hard to read some of the print
Leaves of Grass
Moby Dick
Native Son
Our Bodies, Ourselves (we learned about this one in APUSH!)
The Red Badge of Courage
The Scarlet Letter
COULD NOT FIND Sexual Behavior in the Human Male (the ebook is 47 fucking dollars??? and i canât even find sketchy websites thatâll let me download a pdf. if anyone manages to find a link, lmk please)
Stranger in a Strange Land
A Streetcar Named Desire
Their Eyes Were Watching God
To Kill a Mockingbird
Uncle Tomâs Cabin
Where the Wild Things Are (this is a slideshow!!!! how fun)

Life path unlocked. Heâs a scientist now.
If your dad is telling you in great detail about something heâs passionate about, youâre going to be hooked even if you donât understand a word.
He tells us moreâŚ
So now I have to deliver a quiet lecture on the Standard Model every night. He loves lists of things, like all the streets home from daycare, or the train stations between here and Central, so he loves hearing the list of leptons and quarks and bosons.
Anyway, I made this poster for him, based on the CPEP ones we used to have at uni .Â
Alas I ran out of room for antimatter, colour charge and confinement, but hey, maybe there can be a second poster later.
Itâs funny though â on the surface of it, it seems like it must be far too advanced for a 3yo. But when you think about it, quarks and leptons are no more or less real to him than, say, dinosaurs or planets, and he loves those too. And he recognises the letters on the particles.
I am absolutely overwhelmed by the kind and sweet things people are saying about this, thanks everyone â¤ď¸
Addendum: he has really grasped onto the âeverything is made of atomsâ part of this, so tonight he listed just about every object he could think of and asked if it was made of atoms.
âAnd my bed?â Yes, and your bed. âAnd that wall?â Yep. âAnd the armchair?â Yes, the armchair too. ⌠⌠âAnd⌠the book case?â Yâ
âAnd my home?â Yep, the whole apartment block. âAnd your home? Oh wait, your home is my home.â Haha, it is. ⌠⌠âBut is it made of atoms?â Yep. âAnd⌠[best friend]âs home?â Yes, it is. And [other friend]âs home, and [third friend]âs home.
âIs [yet another friend]âs home?â
Update from the other night:
âIs my⌠is⌠[extremely long pause] is my atoms poster made up of atoms?â âYes! Yes it is.
I have never heard such a contemplative silence. I think the next poster will have to be on the philosophy of referential language.
Update from this morning: after listing everything in sight (mummy? daddy? fridge? milk? cereal? table? etc.) he asks âis [baby sister] made up of atoms?â
yep!
*runs over to her on the floor* *puts face up real close to hers* âHI! YOUâRE MADE UP OF LOTS OF ATOMS! DID YOU KNOW?â

In 5th grade some boys hid my desk in the boys bathroom. I was confused when I got to school and it was missing, so I just sat on the floor and read my book until the teacher came in and made them put it back.
I realize now they were trying to trick me into go into the boys bathroom, but no one actually told me thatâs where my desk was, and it didnât occur to me to ask.
Looking back I realize they had to make the effort to get to school early to move it, and I feel a tiny bit of regret for not reacting more.
In 3rd grade Richard brought his new lacrosse set in for show in tell. the ball went missing during class time and at the end of the day we all had to check our bookbags to look for it. I only glanced in mine (I just wanted to go home), but that evening I found it at the bottom of my bag. I was so scared of being blamed, I threw it into the neighborâs yard and never told anyone.
I found out 2 years later that my bully Luke put it there to frame me, and he was still extremely frustrated I hadnât gotten caught.
Iâm pretty sure Richard got a new ball.
I had a crush on a boy I met in Kindergarten and made NO attempts to hide it because the people on TV were always telling each other when they liked each other. Didnât work as well as Iâd hope (i.e. didnât work AT ALL and no boy wanted to hang out with me ever after that), but thatâs not the point.
Skip ahead to third grade. We had a new kid who was kind of a jerk. One day he asks me if I have a crush and Iâm like, âYeah, [Crush]. And?â Dude turns around and yells to my crush âHey! She has a crush on you!â
My crush just kinda sighs and is like, âYeah. I know. Everyone knows. Thanks.â
So this guy was hoping to embarrass me in front of everyone but it completely backfired because I lack the social filter necessary to feel ashamed of my base desires.
One time in like kindergerden some kid stole my shoe and instead if reacting I just went the whole day barefoot. No one questioned it. He got bored of no reaction and just dropped the shoe but by then I was too committed and continued to walk around barefoot.
Some of yall grew up with a low base stat of âfucks givenâ
damn right we did

Remember when Sarah Palin came into the political arena in 2008 and turned the right-wing rhetoric up to 10? Well, the leading GOP candidate for president in 2016, Donald Trump, is cranking it up to
The 14 points of Fascism
Powerful and Continuing Nationalism Fascist regimes tend to make constant use of patriotic mottos, slogans, symbols, songs, and other paraphernalia. Flags are seen everywhere, as are flag symbols on clothing and in public displays.
Disdain for the Recognition of Human Rights Because of fear of enemies and the need for security, the people in fascist regimes are persuaded that human rights can be ignored in certain cases because of âneed.â The people tend to look the other way or even approve of torture, summary executions, assassinations, long incarcerations of prisoners, etc.
Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause The people are rallied into a unifying patriotic frenzy over the need to eliminate a perceived common threat or foe: racial, ethnic or religious minorities; liberals; communists; socialists, terrorists, etc.
Supremacy of the Military Even when there are widespread domestic problems, the military is given a disproportionate amount of government funding, and the domestic agenda is neglected. Soldiers and military service are glamorized.
Rampant Sexism The governments of fascist nations tend to be almost exclusively male-dominated. Under fascist regimes, traditional gender roles are made more rigid. Opposition to abortion is high, as is homophobia and anti-gay legislation and national policy.
Controlled Mass Media Sometimes the media is directly controlled by the government, but in other cases, the media is indirectly controlled by government regulation, or sympathetic media spokespeople and executives. Censorship, especially in war time, is very common.
Obsession with National Security Fear is used as a motivational tool by the government over the masses.
Religion and Government are Intertwined Governments in fascist nations tend to use the most common religion in the nation as a tool to manipulate public opinion. Religious rhetoric and terminology is common from government leaders, even when the major tenets of the religion are diametrically opposed to the governmentâs policies or actions.
Corporate Power is Protected The industrial and business aristocracy of a fascist nation often are the ones who put the government leaders into power, creating a mutually beneficial business/government relationship and power elite.
Labor Power is Suppressed Because the organizing power of labor is the only real threat to a fascist government, labor unions are either eliminated entirely, or are severely suppressed.
Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts Fascist nations tend to promote and tolerate open hostility to higher education, and academia. It is not uncommon for professors and other academics to be censored or even arrested. Free expression in the arts is openly attacked, and governments often refuse to fund the arts.
Obsession with Crime and Punishment Under fascist regimes, the police are given almost limitless power to enforce laws. The people are often willing to overlook police abuses and even forego civil liberties in the name of patriotism. There is often a national police force with virtually unlimited power in fascist nations.
Rampant Cronyism and Corruption Fascist regimes almost always are governed by groups of friends and associates who appoint each other to government positions and use governmental power and authority to protect their friends from accountability. It is not uncommon in fascist regimes for national resources and even treasures to be appropriated or even outright stolen by government leaders.
Fraudulent Elections Sometimes elections in fascist nations are a complete sham. Other times elections are manipulated by smear campaigns against or even assassination of opposition candidates, use of legislation to control voting numbers or political district boundaries, and manipulation of the media. Fascist nations also typically use their judiciaries to manipulate or control elections.
Well the modern Fascists learned one thing.  â Supremacy of the Military â is all smoke and mirrors, no chance of an âOperation Valkyrieâ, when you cut the actual forces to the bone and use the funds for rewarding allies instead of what you claim. Also causes people to blame military when they dare blame someone for the shortages.
