I did this as a concept for a video game a few years back - it was rejected but I always liked it. from the top down the level design makes a skull (the two mausoleums are the eyes, statue is the nose)

SECRET CODERS comes out TODAY!!!!
I’m so proud to have worked on this with the amazing Gene Luen Yang, and I hope everyone who reads it enjoys it! It’s a really fun story.

In Gene Luen Yang’s latest project, programming takes center stage, as he creates a preliminary introduction to coding through the adventures of three schoolkids. A missing dog? This is clearly a ...

My new book with Gene Luen Yang is out next week!! Here’s a short story from the Secret Coders universe.
Hello, First of all just want to say how I really really like your work, as a sort-of aspiring illustrator, your work is a really great inspiration so thank you !! Also I actually have one very simple question: do you like the Monty Python if so how does it influence your work?
Everyone is influenced by Monty Python, yes?  Probably.  I only had two television channels growing up, but I remember in grade six, CBC started playing Monty Python late at night sometimes.  And there was one other kid in my class who started watching it too, and we had never seen anything like it, or heard of it before.  I remember coming to school the next day and making a beeline for him to talk about the funny things we saw.  “The funniest joke in the world” - that was the one that was the best one.  Still!
In grade 12 the teacher let us put on “Monty Python and the Holy Grail” as a school play, and I was the director.  It was a complete mess.  It was probably illegal?  We had a great time. Â
HAHA, you and I did the exact same thing in high school, on opposite ends of the province - we both directed Monty Python and the Holy Grail as a stage play. Our principal was a huge Python fan and let us get away with so much. I was a terrible student, but he was there at every performance, in the back of the room, giggling.

The Comic Last Standing
Time to break out the peanut-butter squares and champagne to toast what’s been a pretty terrific run of the Bravest Warriors comics. The three-year journey comes to an end today with the release of No. 36. A big thanks to Breehn Burns, Shannon Watters and all the men and ladies at BOOM! Studios, Nate Olson, Chris Troise, Ruth Morrison, and—last but not least!—the über-talented writers and artists who made the comics such a blast. It was a pleasure.
So, enjoy this last issue. If you’re like we are, you’ll (regret all that champagne and peanut-butter squares, and) keep your fingers crossed we’ll see more somewhere down the line.
Cover by Ian McGinty.
Dang - this was my very first regular comics gig, and I had a blast drawing the first 20 issues. Ian picked up the torch and ran with it and did an amazing job. Bye BW!
