I saw this post the other day and it really annoyed me. It’s like they don’t know the meaning of ‘Master’ and ‘Mistress’ and only posted it to spite Moffat’s writing. I’ll just clear this up:

Master is gender specific to males.

Mistress is gender specific to females.

Doctor is gender neutral.

Seriously, what has happened to this fandom? It seems like for every positive post about Twelve / Series 8 / Capaldi there are ten negative ones, and all of them are extremely unfounded.

The study that has been floating around the fandom seems to be conclusively proving that, by numbers, RTD’s era is less sexist than Moffat’s. On the surface, it looks pretty convincing. However, a careful look into the methodology reveals many fundamental flaws in her research.
