The Pensieve

- It’s a messy definition.

It’s the moody chick that decides she doesn’t want to see that movie anymore or that guy who insists he chow down on sliders (and not the hot wings the waitress brought out) with his bro.

(If you got lost anywhere in that tragic attempt to loosely define the nature of happiness, I don’t blame you)

Happiness is messy in that it is all over the place (kind of like me at the moment). What is joyful to one person can very well be rubbish to another. The manifestation of ones elation is unique and specific to their personality, likes, dislikes- quirks and all.

For once, I don’t have an end all be all (not that one should). No preachy proclamation of how no one form of happiness is superior to the rest.

I’ve learned, through the words of others and thoughts of my own, that what suits one person does not have to suit me. I will be perfectly happy on my own terms in a way that I see fit :) and that is beautiful. and that is ME.

Help me feel the music,

help me dance with my eyes closed,

With my head against yours,

so that my mind may not know what my feet are doing,

take me on the journey the music sings of,

to give into its seductive serenade.

help me taste the tension in the strings,

and, likewise, in the pull of the accordion,

dip me into crescendos,

and twirl me into the accelerandos,

allow me to twist in your hands as you lead me astray between pivots and turns,

as I run along the floor, jumping from note to note, in time with the fluctuating accordion,

and when it’s all said and done, hold me close,

so that I regain my bearings and return my feet to a solid floor,

let me slip into the last pull of the violin,

and the sweet longings of the staccato trips of the piano,

nestling in the knowledge that you are right there with me,

in the same space,

breathing the same air,

Ah, yes...
