crossover aus (in the sense of cast A in series B) are kinda boring to me if theyre done by just assigning the former cast into the roles of the latter cast
by that i mean, like... idk, say youre doing a naruto spongebob au. and it goes like "spongebob can be naruto... squidward can be sasuke... patrick can be sakura...." THATS SO BORING BC NARUTO IS ALREADY NARUTO AND SASUKE IS ALREADY SASUKE AND SAKURA IS ALREADY SAKURA why are you just giving them a new coat of sea creature paint?
obviously this is a random and silly example to illustrate what i mean, but you guys get it, right? itd be lot more interesting to hypothetically put the spongebob characters in the naruto universe as themselves, and work around their existing characteristics to figure out unique and different ways they can fit into the setting, rather than just using the mold of the existing cast. thats sooooo much more fun, and gives you a lot more breathing room than trying to cram the characters into spaces they dont fit into. spongebob is just far to square to fit into narutos spiky silhouette. lets face reality.
ok, like, jokes aside, its not like its a big deal or anything. especially with something as unserious as this example. but i just feel like its a bit lacking from a creative standpoint. that being said if youre having fun dont let me ruin it for you, its just preference
