no, hanahaki in my comic is not organic, and the cybertronian version does have some... peculiarities :D

I've got some thoughts on how the whole thing works, but it would require an in depth explanation of my take on cybertronian biology, which I probably will make a post about once I'm deeper in the comic hehe

Megatron is an Avatar of the Dark, for two main reasons. The first one is that hés the biggest, baddest, most terrifying foe in most continuities. He's the monster under the bed, something from stories, much like the Dark, he's old and omnipresent, his very existence is a horror story.

But I feel like part of the fear he inspires comes from how he presents himself ! In mtmte, which is the main inspiration for this AU, he's a much more vicious, manipulative, secretive person than, say, in G1. He leads from the Dark. He's always in the shadows.
