For some reason, being back at Hogwarts was more difficult than it had ever been before. It had left Harry with a strange and uncomfortable mixture of nostalgia for what many consider the best years of the life and a constant reminder of the pain they had all endured every time he walked into a new room. He just needed to get away from it all, wandering to a slightly more secluded area of the castle and feigning interest in some potion he couldn’t quite place in order to take a moment for himself.
He hadn’t turned to see who the person nearby him was, only recognized he was not the only person in the room anymore, or even in this particular section of the room and stuck a hand in his pocket, finally deciding to look at whose space he had completely been taking over. “Sorry am I in your way?”
While Theo had no intention to be bidding for any of the potions which were on display at the event, he couldn’t help but take a closer look at all of them when he found himself having wandered into the section. He could brew any of these potions by himself if he needed them, or if it was too urgent, he was sure he would only have to send a request to Draco and he would acquire them for him very quickly. But fact remained that potions always spiked his interest and the tiny vial of felix felicis, for example, was calling his name, making him want to inspect the liquid. It was safe to say he hadn’t seen the Boy who Lived till he spoke, and while his eyes turned a bit cold, a polite smile made it’s way to his lips regardless. “You are not, I barely even noticed you.” he shrugged a little. “Do you plan on bidding for it?” he asked lightly, gesturing to the potion which he thought the other seemed interested in.

If Cho had still been a teenager, maybe things between her and Theo would be different. She had been so desperate for affection as a teen, so easily wooed by charming smiles like his. But she had been forced to grow up all too quickly, and with that had come the realization that she was only going to get hurt if she continued being such a hopeless romantic. Now? Well, now Cho was scared of letting anyone in too close - even if it was someone like Theo, whom she easily could have seen herself dating. But that was beside the point.
Once he turned around and flashed her his signature smile, Cho couldn’t help the way her own smile grew, as if his excitement at seeing her was contagious. She didn’t hesitate to follow him, taking the glass he offered her with a small “thank you”, before she took a sip from it. “Of course I made it.” She replied, letting out a lighthearted laugh. It was so easy to be herself around him, so easy to forget all of the pain she had been through over the past few years. “Technically I can’t stand you up, because this isn’t a date. But no, I haven’t been avoiding you, I was in the library.” Trying to find the courage to face these people she hadn’t seen in so long.
He didn’t understand her, not really. Theo had been working with Cho for a while now and to him, she never came across as the kind of person who would be scared to date or commit. But obviously, he had been wrong about that because any time he even hinted about their relationship being anything but casual, she seem to close herself off with all her might. A part of him wanted to try harder with her, to woo her into telling yes to him but he didn't really mind how things were between them now and saw no reason to force her into making decisions she didn't wish to make.
“I sort of assumed you weren’t going to make it when I didn’t see you all this while.” he admitted with an apologetic smile. Maybe he should have trusted her a little bit more -- after all she had agreed to join him as a favour, and if anything Cho was a good, loyal friend and he should have know she would show up at some point. He couldn't help but roll his eyes playfully when she continued to insist that this wasn’t a date. “I know, I know, I get it, Chang. Trust me, you’ve made it very clear.” he said teasingly. His brows rose in amusement when she admitted to being at the library. “You just have to live up to the Ravenclaw stereotype, hm? Of all places you could go to in the castle, you picked the library?”
@theoxxnott a closed starter for the Hogwarts’ charity gala event
With Tracey gone off to talk to some other Slytherins, or so Draco supposed, he decided it was a good time for the first (and only) drink of the evening. It didn’t seem like a good idea to drink too much in a place like this. Once he found someone to come home with him and actually got home he could open a bottle of Firewhiskey. For now one glass would have to do. Drinking more than one glass implied that he was having a good time with those present here and even while trying to be polite that was not an impression Draco was going to give off.
It seemed that his luck in regards of seeing people he didn’t want to see had turned. As soon as he got himself that drink Theodore appeared in his view. “You may be the second person that I saw today that I actually want to see,” Draco declared theatrically and with a sigh. “Do you want a glass?” A glass of Firewhiskey, of course. Butterbeer was for people didn’t know how to drink alcohol. It was way too sweet for Draco’s liking. Since they were here, they should at least drink the alcohol that the school provided. “Are you planning to bid on anything?” he asked his best friend. “Or are you just showing your face because..” He couldn’t finish that sentence because he genuinely did not know.
He had somehow been roped into listening to a boy who wouldn’t stop whining about how he had lost his entire family to the war. Yes, Theo could sympathize with him, but for how long? If what he wanted was to talk about his family, perhaps he should be visiting a grief counselor and not charity events where people gathered to have a good time. He had just about reached his limit and was going to suggest the same to him when Draco found him and he was glad for the interruption. His lips pressed together in a feeble attempt to stop his laughter at the other’s words but it slipped through regardless. “Don’t be so dramatic, Draco.” he said teasingly. “This place isn’t all that bad. Surely, there are some people you like around here? What about the famous Harry Potter?” He scoffed at how ridiculous his own words sounded. “Who else is that you didn’t mind meeting?”
He accepted the glass of firewhiskey which the blond boy offered, but he only took a small sip from it before placing the glass aside. They were to be here for hours, he couldn't afford to drink as he pleased and walk around intoxicated. He certainly wouldn't be this careful had he still been a student, but this wasn’t one of those parties where he could get away with whatever he did. The Prophet was probably covering the event -- he couldn’t allow himself to step out of line, not today. “I did see an old copy of Alchemy, Ancient Art and Science on display. I haven't been able to get my hands on any Argo Pyrites book in ages.” he admitted before shrugging his shoulders at the question the other let linger. “It’s a jog thing, they wanted someone to come on behalf of the hospital.” he rolled his eyes a little. “And guess who was the lucky one to be chosen? I get the day off tomorrow though, so I suppose it isn’t all that bad.”

Theo was used to attending formal gatherings such as this one. All through his life he had been forced into attending several of these formal occasions, sometimes even hosting them, and he knew exactly how he should be behaving to keep his father happy and the reputation of the Notts intact. But that did not mean he enjoyed being at these events. There were only so many polite conversations he could have with acquaintances before he felt like he’d had enough. In all honesty, he preferred parties which were crazy and loud, where he could allow himself to be free rather than ones like this where he had to keep up a polite appearance for hours at once.
Grabbing a bottle of firewhiskey in his hand, he found himself moving away from the Entrance courtyard and strolling through the school grounds alone. The silence wasn't eerie -- but it brought back memories from years ago when everything had been different. Some were good memories, and some, not so much. Despite everything the school had been home to him, a place where he could feel safe which was not something he felt at home. But it was during the Battle of Hogwarts that he had last been here. That wretched war which had taken his sister away from him for good. Going back to Hogwarts wasn’t something he considered afterwards -- he had chosen to complete his NEWTs in Durmstrang instead of returning.
He was glad when he heard footsteps, he didn’t want to think about his sister, about losing the only person who had really been family to him. He didn’t want to drown in grief again. A smirk grew on his lips, his head tilting to one side as he eyed the other. “I suppose this means I am not the only one who is -- how do I put this nicely? -- bored out of my fucking mind?”

( & @theoxxnott ; Hogwarts Charity Gala )
Being a healer meant that Cho’s free time was few and far between, and was often spent with relatives or close friends. Charity galas and visits back to Hogwarts were not something she had ever anticipated after graduating, and when she first heard about it, she hadn’t planned on attending. However, after talking about the event with Theo, she had agreed to go with him. Or rather, go and meet up with him once she got there - completely platonically, of course.
After spending some time wandering around between the shelves of the library, reminiscing on all the long days spent studying within its walls, Cho made her way out to the courtyard to meet up with Theo. Leaning against a pillar with a glass of water in hand, she silently scanned the crowd of people chatting away with one another, until her eyes finally landed on her “date”. She pushed off from the pillar and carefully made her way over to him, before lightly tapping him on the shoulder. “Hey you.” She greeted, a soft smile tugging at her lips.
There were several people at the Gala that evening, most of whom he had not met in months, even years -- but once he was there, his eyes began looking for the one brunette whom he had merely spoken to the previous day. It was not a date, she had made it extremely clear but she had promised to be present nevertheless. His eyes scanned the crowd but he couldn’t spot her just yet and soon she had slipped from his mind and he instead began to socialize with those present. Some whom he knew and some whom he didn’t, but if anything, Theodore Nott never had trouble in making himself be seen and heard in a crowd, even if they were full of strangers.
He was in conversation with a pretty blond girl he remembered vaguely from school but whose name he still couldn't place when he felt a tap to his shoulder and he turned around to see who it was that was interrupting his conversation, a smile growing on his lips when he realized it was her. “Cho, you made it.” He quickly yet politely excused himself from the other and walked with Cho over to the where the drinks were being served, offering her one of the more milder ones for didn’t imagine she intended to get drunk that night. “I thought you had stood me up on our not-a-date.” he said teasingly. “Did you just get here or have you been avoiding me all evening?”

Contrary to what one might’ve expected, Zacharias thought the Charity Gala was a brilliant idea. It gave him both a chance to throw too much money on things he definitely didn’t need but wanted nonetheless and an opportunity to speak to his dear old classmates again; what was not to like?
In fact, a few items had already caught his eye and what was more, so had quite a few people. He grinned and put down the book he’d been looking at. It was utterly boring, anyway, and he’d probably never actually read it, but he’d be damned if that stopped him from bidding on it. He threw one last glance at the ornate cover and moved towards the person who’d caught his attention.
“Hello there,“ he inclined his head, grin still in place. Before the gala he’d done some research on what most of his old classmates were up to these days, much more thorough than any he’d done for classes back when he was still a student, if he might add, and he’d been waiting for the right moment to catch this person alone. “I was hoping you’d show up.“
Only minutes ago, Theo had been flipping through one of the rarer books which had caught his eye at the Gala, the very same one Zacharias held in his hand now. There were several other interesting books as well as paintings to look at, but this particular potions book was one he hadn’t been able to get his hand on in a long time and he had a full mind to bid for it. He had barely looked through it at all, when he was dragged aside for a drink by one of his former classmates and after exchanging pleasantries, he walked back with his drink in his hand, his eyes falling on Zacharias who seemed to be getting all too interested in the book which he had already decided to be his.
Before he could walk to him, the other had caught his eye and Theo allowed a smirk to grow on his lips when he stepped towards him. “Were you now?” he laughed lightly taking another sip of his drink with his eyes still on him. He didn't remember the last time he had seen him but it was safe to say that it had been quite a while. Perhaps it was during the the Battle of Hogwarts that they had last crossed paths -- he couldn't really say. “I am not surprised, but I was rather hoping not to see you.” he went on in a teasing manner, before gesturing to the book behind him. “Now why would you be meddling with that little thing there?”
