Quick lore, the basics!:
Steph supposedly dies as Spoiler. Tim is sad.
Tim, in his desperation, goes to the Court of Owls in hopes of bringing her back.
The Court agrees without any intention of actually bringing her back. Not that it matters, considering Steph is very alive. Tim is just unaware.
Captain Boomerang kills Jack Drake. Which doesn't help Tim's mental state.
Bludhaven gets leveled while Tim is there with Cass.
Bruce offers to officially adopt Tim, but Tim has been far too stressed and kinda just. Freaks out because he's overwhelmed.
So he continues doing stuff with the Court instead of actually getting back to Bruce.
Eventually at 19 he dies and gets talonified (Definitely a real word, trust).
And then now we're here.
