I’ve always thought Juls was further along in coming to terms or being aware of her attraction to girls. Here’s why?
This is more than just admiring her clothes. Juls turns all the way around and even her mom notices. Then she proceeds to stare at her and watch her conversation.
Then when Val invites her to come to her house .. she stays up all night, trying to make a cute top.
This is her reaction when Valentina calls to follow through with their plans.
Not once does Juls even mention or look or give any interest to any boys. This is unusual when two girls get together. She never mentions them. It makes me think she’s not interested and maybe knows that she’s not. (We dont have any insight to her social life in San Antonio other than being a virgin.) I love her reaction to the news that Sergio likes her.
The whole time, Juls is only interested in being with Val and spending time with her.
I find this moment incredibly bold and a little flirtacious. She tells Val she needs to look in her eyes. Look at the lip bite as Val gets flustered, yet Juls is so calm.
The other clue is when Juls realizes that Val may have feelings for her, she doesn’t get shaken about it. She is beaming whilst Val is having an ‘oh shit moment’ lol.
I think Juls never really has a moment where she is like “Oh crap, i like girls”. She just does. The only ‘panic’ moments i see is when she’s almost caught for being in Vals bed (but that could be gay or straight). And this moment.. it’s not really gay panic as much as it is.. I am holding myself back. (and the fact that Val is high af)
She’s got her arms wrapped around herself so as not to touch Val. Not bc of panic but bc she already likes this girl and wants to touch her so bad, she’s afraid to move.
I think that is why Juls just waits for Val to make the move because she’s already there and waiting for Val to catch up to her.
But she’s never panicked about ‘liking a girl” - when Val is still trying to verbalize everything, Juls says things like “me encantas”
and things like “I AM IN LOVE WITH YOU” She’s so sure of her feelings.
Juls only gets panicked over the consequences .. what that means for Val’s life and her mom’s. But never over being Gay.
