2025 Update
I've been pretty quiet on here since Covid. I stopped really intentionally trying to eat well and work on my fitness goals because, of course, it was just going to be two weeks.
So.... Five years later, here we are with a brand new high weight and some fresh goals.
~~Updated 7/18/25~~
High weight: 245lbs (February 2025)
Current weight: 219lbs
Starting measurements: Bust 49" Waist 41" Hips 49"
Current measurements: Bust 44.5" Waist 37" Hips 45"
Weight Goal #1: back under 200lbs
Non-Weight Goal #1: fit back into size 12-14/L pants
My weight loss method this go-around is tracking only. So I'll be tracking everything I eat and weighing/measuring all the portions, but I'm not trying to hit any particular calorie goal or macro target.
This method tends to work well for me because I get big FOMO from feeling like I can't have or do something, and I get hyperfocused on food when I feel like it might run out or be limited. I did try to work on those things in therapy, but either the therapist didn't understand my goals or I didn't know how to explain it right so it didn't get fixed.
So far it's working well. I weighed myself to get the high weight on Feb 6, so it's been just over 2 weeks and 8lbs down. I've done this before, so I know this initial weight loss will slow down for sure, but tracking my portions really has highlighted for me how much I've been overeating and how missing breakfast (usually from sleeping in) gives me more food cravings later in the day.
The big learning so far is how to tell the difference in my body between "tummy empty" and "am hungry now". I'm more conscious of the feelings of satiety and when I've eaten enough.
I've also gotten back into regular gentle exercise. My job now is very sedentary compared to before, so I actually have to think about and plan for time in the day to be active. My current goal is 150 minutes of moderate exercise every week with at least 50 of those minutes coming from dance, pilates, or weightlifting.
